Yamaha YTS-62 02 Tenor Sax

great value , forget those 2500-6000 , this is all you need.


I spent a long time reviewing, reviews, youtube videos, etc... I previously used a selmer paris SA80 black finish, then a Bauhaus Walstein TS pro silver;

The current pricing for tenors of the same caliber is just crazy in euros, rip-off city, hence my caution at just buying another of the same 2 brands or similar, after seeing the pricing at 3-6k euros.

In the end after seeing several video reviews and deciding I was not going to settle for an expensive student model, I really wanted to stay mid range.

While not the quickest usually at dispatching Thomann this time around did manage to do so by 20-24 hours after sending SEPA transfer.

It was the DHL transport time that killed me, I just really wanted it fast, lol, could not wait.

The YTS62 MK II key mechanism feels great, and very responsive, no sticking or delays.... note: dont forget to lookfor all the shippping cork wedges , theres a few hidden around the back I did not see at first look ,lol.

The included mouthpiece is actually pretty decent, though I also switch back to my selmer C* and tested with both using my B&G ligature and no.3 reeds.

I also have a vandoren metal mouthpiece on the way I hope to try out.

Cons : I think my main and only gripe has to be the case. There is a convex swelling of it in the direction of the outter case-longh zipped pouch area, which results in reduced capacity.

For the value of it too their should be better branded and quality reeds included, but thats just me .

Overall after having only one full band rehearsal with it, playing a wide variety of music types that night, the response was great.

I would recommend this to any for :

1.student concert band /marching band
2. student for 2 years and continuing
3. for those with the mid-high range sax, this is a great value backup
4. cheaper alternative to a selmer paris SA80 ( i do miss mine) :)

Très belle finition pour ce saxophone de Yamaha, en plus il est un vrai Made in Japan, j'avais déjà essayé l'Alto il y a quelque années et il était très bien également. Le bec fourni est jouable mais le son très classique, je l'ai remplacé par un Meyer 5M avec une anche vando ZZ 2.5, le couple se marie très bien avec un son chaud et bien centré. Après plusieurs heures de jeu et toujours quelques couac sur certaines notes , correspondance siB de la main droite et Si grave étaient à ajuster (petites vis au dessus du sol#), les 2 était à resserrer d'un quart de tour, c'est pas grand chose mais ça change tout. Ce saxo peut se régler facilement sans toucher aux liéges, c'est un très bon point. Merci à Thomann pour la livraison soignée (sur emballage à bulles) et les conseils avant achat. très satisfait de mon achat.
