A handy power adapter
Bowman2020 03.07.2020
I got this to interface a Sennheiser MKE2 lapel mic to my Focusrite Solo to give me good audio for Zoom and Skype calling.
Works exactly as expected, converting +48V phantom to 5V suitable for the MKE2.
It does stick out an XLR socket a lot so I am using a short XLR jumper cable.
Works great and much cheaper than the equivalent Sennheiser units.

Doesn't work with the Primo EM258

I guess it shouldn't work with it. Just in case if you are wondering.

Well-made, may be adapted
sergio_logic 02.06.2024
The supply adapter is a good transformerless design with a balanced output.

Inside is a Schoeps-style single ended to differential/balanced stage (BJT phase splitter, not JFET, since the JFET for lavaliers is already inside the capsule), followed by one BJT emitter follower for each side of the balanced signal (the balanced output is transistor-based).

May be adapted for other types of microphones by rewiring the 3.5mm connector and/or replacing some resistors. I have changed one to the Sony UWP pinout so I can use with my existing lavalier microphones (all wired for Sony UWP transmitters) into a wired XLR interface.
