I was waiting to get my hands on it like nothing else before.
I recently got my Mesa MKIV and was recording with it through Bugera PS1->Mooer Radar loading up some beautiful Jens Bogren IR's. It was a blast.
But in order to be a total pro and take advantage or my poweramp as well, got this one.
So lets go:
The unit has a great sound quality, I can tell. Translates the amp really well. That's good.
However, took like an hour to figure out that it wasn't "reading" IR's as long as it was plugged on the USB.
Disconnected it and started playing. OK.
Then, tried to load my fav Jens Bogren IRs.
Correct bit, length 24bit, 48khz, Mono. All good, I'm not an idiot.
Then...nothing.
Looks like you have to:
Safe Eject USB -> Unplug USB cable -> POWER CYCLE the unit for 3 seconds (!),then restart.
And of course...THERE'S NO POWER ON/OFF SWITCH!!!
Would make sense if you wouldn't need one, but it seems you surely do!
And of course, meanwhile, you need to Standby->Turn Off AMP and back again, cause I guess you can't have it plugged into a load box without the load box turned on. Perhaps not, but don't want to experiment with a Mesa MKIV on that.
And after you do all of these...the Jens Bogren IR's DIDNT WORK AT ALL. Nothing wrong with my side. Other IR's work "fine".
Pros:
-Good construction/quality
-Sound Quality
Cons:
-No power on/off switch
-Only 16 slots of IR's
-No XLR out
Bottom line: total regret for this purchase.
EDIT after 2 months of use:
Jens Bogren digital sent me their updated version of their IR's that work with it. Strange they didn't work in the beginning.
I got a great tone out of my tele-jcm900 SL-x combo for an Iron Maiden low-gain tone I was going for, but still I got no massive tone out of either my EVHIII nor MARKIV. Found myself using a kemper preset which made me very unhappy.
