Not much to say about Remo. They have been producing quality drum heads for decades. The medium-thick Ambassador series is widely-used and is full of tone due to its' single ply and is quite durable.
I bought this 8" head for my 8" tom, of course. There may not be much resonance produced but that is due to the size of the drum more than the head itself. Perhaps, a thinner Diplomat head would be more suitable. It depends how it would sound with the rest of the kit. I think that if tuned well and both top and bottom heads are tuned to the same pitch, there should be enough resonance. I don't intend to use any moongel or other muffling on this head. But that's just my personal taste.
I've always been using Remo heads for my drums and don't see why I should change. Recommended!

Very pleased with the sound

We use this drum head for our 8'' Drum Workshop Collectors tom-tom. It is a 18 years old drum.
We chose this drum head because we use the same series for our other toms.
The sound is very clear and punchy.
It is a very good drum head if you want to make the drums "sing". It brings up the drum's tone very nicely; of course you will need to have a drummer that hits the drums moderately, not braking the drum sticks after 3 songs.
For us it is the best choice after trying other drum heads, we recommend it.
As cons, we can really say anything, maybe just wishing to last forever :))) Of course this part depends again on how tuff you drummer is.

Typical Remo Quality. The Ambassador is a single ply head pefect for the bottom of toms. Nice open tones, these babies work very well as batters in the studio to give that bright open attack for the microphones.

REMO Clear Ambassador

These are the number 1 choice of drum heads for the underside of my drums. These have a great sound with extreme durability. Tune the top and bottom head to the same tension and you will have a great sounding drum.
