9. Ear Impression Taking

For the production of custom-made earmolds as well as custom-made hearing systems, an ear impression of the customer is necessary. This is done by hearing aid acousticians or ear doctors.

Insertion of the Impression Material

Taking an ear impression from the customer is a completely safe and painless procedure. A special quick-drying two-component impression material is inserted into the ear canal and the outer ear. Prior to this, the ear is examined by the impression taker for any pathological abnormalities using an otoscope. If there are any changes in the ear such as redness, extreme cerumen buildup, or ear canal blockage, the customer should definitely consult an ENT specialist before taking the impression and, if necessary, address the issues.

After drying, the ear impression is removed from the ear. The process of ear impression taking takes approximately 5-10 minutes.

To make a fully encapsulated custom-made hearing system, a deep ear impression is necessary, which cleanly outlines up to the second bend in the ear canal. Only then can an optimal result regarding fit and sealing be achieved.

You send us this ear impression along with your order for the desired in-ear system. After the custom in-ear monitor is made, you will receive the ear impression back.
