Space galore

The Millenium SD-180 StudioDesk is a workstation of generous size, specifically designed to meet the demands of both recording and music production. In addition to a 180cm wide working surface, it offers two raised shelves for studio monitors, a pull-out shelf for a master keyboard, and two angled 19" racks with four rack units each for the installation of audio interfaces, preamps, and other hardware. If you are looking for a spacious and well-organised working environment at home or in a project studio, the Millenium SD-180 StudioDesk is a real bargain.

Practical design

The two studio monitor shelves are relatively large, measuring 600 x 240mm. They provide additional space for a second pair of speakers, which is necessary when working with a two-way system commonly used in home studios. Since the 19" racks below are angled, built-in hardware can be operated quite comfortably from the sweet spot. With a surface area of 1000 x 400mm, the pull-out keyboard shelf offers lots of space for a small master keyboard or other controllers. A space-saving alternative to the Millenium SD-180 StudioDesk is the SD-120 StudioDesk with a width of 120cm.

Ideal for home and project studios

In most home and project studios, space is not used exclusively for music production. As a result, the setup of the studio is often a trade-off. The Millenium SD-180 StudioDesk offers a cost-effective alternative to such permanently improvised workstations. Since it is mounted on castors and associated equipment such as a computer can be placed on the stable baseplate, it is also possible to move the complete workstation across the room with ease. In this way, space is made available for other activities if so required.

About Millenium

Millenium is one of Thomann’s in-house brands and has been an integral part of the store’s range since 1995. More than 800 products – from drums and percussion through to accessories such as microphone stands, racks, and recording workstations – bear the Millenium label. These products are made by renowned companies who also manufacture products for other well-known brands. Since they are imported directly from the factory without any further distributors or sales companies, they can be sold at particularly attractive prices. Incidentally, one in every four Thomann customers has already purchased at least one Millenium product.

Structured and self-contained workspace

The Millenium SD-180 StudioDesk creates a spacious and practical workspace for every stage of music production. As such, it cuts a fine figure in the lounge or hobby room at home, as well as in the rehearsal room or a spacious project studio. Since the entire workstation is on castors, it is possible to place it in the centre of the room and take advantage of the resulting acoustic benefits - without permanently blocking the space for other activities. Compared to a simple table with separate speaker stands, an adjacent master keyboard, and an additional 19" rack, the SD-180 StudioDesk offers an excellently structured and self-contained workspace.

So good I bought another one👍
Spetsnave 18.08.2021
I bought the black version last October which my son now uses in his studio because of the growing amount of boxes he now has.
So had to buy myself one but in the wood and black finish.
I did have a hunt around to see if there were any better options out there since I bought the original but there wasn’t at this price point so rang Thomann to ask if I could have any discount for buying a second one and they gave me 5% off So I placed the order.
It’s still voted the best desk on YouTube 👍
Thomann are using new shippers to the UK for heavy goods and can’t thank the very helpful driver /delivery man enough 👍He brought the boxes up my path on a pallet truck cut the straps holding the both boxes to the pallet and then carried them into my home and stacked them neatly in my hallway.
Both boxes were clean and had just a couple of little scuff marks. I’m guessing this was because they were shipped on a new pallet and not loose in a lorry /vans during the journey.
So I’m very pleased with the new company Thomann are using to ship heavy goods and a big thank you goes out to the very helpful man delivery the goods👍

JD
Good desk, with its flaws
Jeroen De Clerck 07.05.2021
Great desk for the price, but it has a few drawbacks. I installed a 4U rackmount PC case, 2 KRK 7G4 studio monitors on the wings and a PC screen on a swivel monitor mount in the middle, which seems fairly standard equipment. The off-center weight immediately destroyed the wheels when I tried to move the desk to attach power cables. The desk was also extremely wobbly, so I gave up on the "mobile" aspect and shoved some blocks under the base which fixed these issues.

I wanted to put my legs under the desk which revealed another "flaw", the semicircle in the base is just barely big enough to allow a standard office chair to scoot close enough to rest my elbows on the desk. This means that my feet can not rest on the floor but are instead raised to the height of the desk base, and that I can't stash my office chair completely under the desk. I'm fairly small so it is not a big drawback, but worth to look out for if you're tall.

But in the bigger picture, a desk with these features would normally cost a couple hundred euros more, so I would still recommend it to anyone looking for an entry-level desk with rackmounts.

Great budget desk, but poor accessories
Homestudy 27.04.2020
I use this table for my main work center; large screen, studio monitors, soundcard/DI, computer, KB/M and assorted small stuff. This is apparently too much weight, as most of the rubber wheels have collapsed unto themselves, and the table is now immovable. I didn't move it around anyway, but the point still stands.

There is a retractable shelf for the keyboard under the main desk, but it hangs much too low, and my legs are in the way of it, So I've removed it. I'm pretty averagely sized, so I won't be the only one with that problem.

Other than that the desk is sturdy enough, the extra shelves are prefect for studio monitors, and the back has a nice cable management section you can ziptie the cables to.

A good studio setup on a budget, with a few issues, sadly.

NL
Absolutely blown away by this desk
North London guy 05.06.2022
I don't normally leave reviews but I felt compelled to on this one.

Dropping money on a desk is a big investment, both financially and in terms of space. Your studio desk dictates both the ease of workflow and vibe in the studio, so it's not a decision I made lightly.

After considering several desks (including ones priced at several times that this one goes for), I went for the SD-180 because of the layout, available rackspace and, yes, price.

I wasn't entirely sure what to expect, but my goodness this desk has exceeded all expectations. I've only had it for about two weeks, but it's sturdy, has a lovely finish and feel to the wood and is incredibly spacious (especially compared to my old, cheaper desk).

I finally have access to all my gear, and I love having my patchbay and 2bus EQ and comp within easy reach within the racks. Another user here said that the wheels gave out quite quickly. I can safely say that even after being loaded with gear, and even after pushing the desk back and forth to access jacks at the rear, they're still going strong. Given that my last desk wasn't on wheels, and given how much of a pain accessing the back was with it, this has been a revelation.

I went for the pale wood finish and this has been the icing on the cake. It's looks beautiful (and impressive, at least in my humble hybrid home studio) and as I've said earlier, the grain on the wood feels lovely.

Delighted with this purchase. Can 100% recommend.
