Packs quite a punch for the size

I was very pleased when Hotone brought out a bass head version of their very popular Hotone mini guitar amp heads. I also have the Brit Invasion amp head which always gets good comments when I use it.
This little amp sounds lovely through a 4 x 10 cabinet it has a great tonal range that is comparable with some high end bass amp heads.
I have used this amp with a varitity of bass guitars and bass cabs and it sounds good through all of them, though it would never be powerfull enough to cut through the mix with a full band it certainly holds it's own with quieter practices when our drummer is on his cajon.
it comes with an effects send and return an Aux in and earphone sockets.
Absolutley perfect for travelling as a practice amp with a suitable small cabinet or just on it's own as a headphone amp. I tried it out through an Orange 8inch cab too and it's more than adequate.
Very versitile for the size and price. Highly reccomended.

W
recommended for new players and people who want to play more
Wouwie 11.03.2022
I use this on my pedalboard, for playing with headphones and playing along with music (aux in), this could only be better if it was a pedal with the controlknobs on top.
I would recommend this to everyone who wants to play bass on a budget, without rehearsalspace, or not enough room to store heads/cabinets/amps. This will give much more pleasure than you imagine now, you can play with your favorite music 24/7, without annoying anyone. get a decent headphone and an aux cable, hook up your smartphone and play along.

Much to love about this, but best for overdriven tones.

Until I saw this, I really didn't appreciate just how tiny it is. Even with just 5 watts at it's command it is surprisingly loud through proper bass cabs. Enough for playing with unamplified or slightly amplified acoustic instruments or house jams (say if your guitarist has a Hotone or Blacckstar fly) and ideal as a practice amp.

It claims to be inspired by the Ampeg SVT and the gain up sound on this is pretty growly, it doesn't leave any sonic prisoners although not as smooth an overdrive as real valves IMHO. I can imagine people using this as a preamp for an FRFR powered speaker.

OK, I was using this with a very 'hot' (but not active) bass and it was almost impossible to get a clean sound on the low notes. Not a big issue for me, as I want a valve-like growl with some gain dialled in is what I prefer, but i can see this being an issue for some purchasers.
