With this elegant guitar equipped with two humbuckers and a single coil, you will be prepared for any scenario. The ergonomically designed body made of mahogany-like nyatoh wood with its beautiful flamed maple veneer top is bolted to the roasted neck in a truly traditional way. A tasteful exterior, high flexibility, and tried-and-tested hardware and electronics come together here to create an affordable instrument that is suitable for a wide range of genres.

Diversity and aesthetics

The Fusion-III HSH Roasted FBLB model is a real eye-catcher. The body is made of nyatoh and has a decorative flamed maple veneer top. Its transparent "Flamed Blue Burst" finish is also a feast for the eyes and can be found on the headstock as well. The neck is made from roasted Canadian flamed maple and secured to the body with a four-screw neck joint. This instrument is very comfortable to play thanks to its nut width of 42mm and its modern C neck profile. The roasted maple fingerboard is also more than just an off-the-rack product. Furthermore, 24 wear-free stainless steel frets, a Graph Tech nut, a Wilkinson 50IIK vintage vibrato, and locking machine heads are used here. The electronics consist of two AlNiCo-5 humbuckers and a single coil in the middle position, all made by Roswell. These are complemented by a five-position switch, as well as potentiometers for volume and tone. The latter allows the humbuckers to be split via a push-pull function.

Sounds to suit any style

The Fusion-III HSH Roasted FBLB is extremely flexible in terms of sound thanks to its three pickups, five-way selector switch, and push-pull potentiometer for splitting the humbuckers. AlNiCo magnets also provide a vintage-style touch to the sound - from Blues to Rock and Pop to Funk. Depending on the particular song and song part, you can vary the timbre and the degree of distortion. Locking machines heads ensure reliable tuning, while the stainless steel frets are characterised by minimal wear - so the instrument will last for many years. With a scale length of 648mm, 24 jumbo frets, and a comfortable C-profile for the neck, the guitar relies on a tried and tested design. In combination with the contoured body with its double cutaway, excellent playability is a given.

A guitar for the live set

With the Fusion-III HSH Roasted FBLB, you are well-prepared for any situation. The traditional Wilkinson 50IIK vibrato system with individually adjustable saddles offers a familiar flat profile. The locking machine heads and the Graph Tech TUSQ XL nut ensure tuning stability at the same time. The straightforward combination of two splittable humbuckers with an additional single coil allows for an extremely high level of sonic flexibility, so that changing your instrument for the sake of sound should be unnecessary. With one instrument, you can switch from silvery-clean single coil sounds to crisp crunch on the bridge humbucker and on to fluid solo tones using the neck pickup.

Okay but some manufacturing issues
Roba9 15.07.2022
I purchased this on backorder in April and ended up reciting the first guitar about a month later. The first guitar was okay but had a large chip out of the neck by the nut, which looked like it had been done at the factory. There were a few other issues also, such as swirling all over the finish, a chip on the headstock and the tone pot had no resistance at all and just spun by itself.

I returned for a replacement with thomann promising to do additional QC checks to make sure these issues weren't present and also reduce the action, which was high on the previous guitar.

The new guitar arrived with a slightly smaller but very similar chip in the wood by the nut, so seems like this is someone being a bit heavy handed at the factory when installing the nut.

The new guitar also has a few other issues: a hairline crack at the neck pocket, a very wobbly selector switch, tooling marks and scratches on the frets, a squeaky tremolo (resolved by wd40), and the high e string is too close to the edge of the fretboard meaning it slips off often and a very badly mismatched flame maple veneer. Nothing major but still frustrating issues. I will be getting the guitar set up at a local shop to improve the playability, so hopefully some of these issues will be solved then.

I took a small partial refund instead of returning because I can't be bothered to get a replacement and then have the same issues again.

However, overall the guitar plays quite well and sounds really good. I love the roswells with my modelling amp as they sound great with all the presets. The guitar is nice and light and the neck is very playable, chunkier than my Fender modern c, but very nice to play.

I think 3 stars is fair, because although it is a nice guitar that has been made with nice components, the quality of workmanship and qc is behind the competition. I won't be returning this but in the future I think I will just stick with higher end squiers, as they haven't let me down in the past.

Nice guitar for this price

It sounds awesome. It has a small quality rate as it has scraps and some technical debts. But I would like to recommend it

Overall very satisfied
Jammin20 12.11.2022
This guitar feels great to play, sounds amazing, and looks awesome. I’m very happy with the purchase of this one. Only real complaint I can give is that there are tool marks further up the neck on the fretboard from filing fret ends. The fret ends themselves are very nice though.

Ok, this was better than I hoped for.
punkcat3 19.10.2022
I’m impressed, really! Been looking for a guitar with Wilkinson and this hit the spot. It playes great, it looks great and it sounds great. It stays in tune surprisingly good even with wammy abuse. And the pickups are hot and articulated. What more can you ask for? It’s quality better than the price point .
My only con is that it’s got some paint errors in the cut aways but I don’t mind. Then it’s a unique guitar. And it’s mine!
