Gibson P90 Soapbar Creme

Pickup

Before Gibson developed the legendary PAF humbucker, the P90 Soap Bar single coil was built into most Gibsons as a standard pickup. In the 70s and 80s this classic was overlooked, but in recent years the Soapbar has experienced a renaissance in many guitars. An especially popular combination: mahogany guitar with P90. Nowadays hardly any manufacturers have such a model as part of their product range.

What many guitarists love about the P90 / 94: Open sound and dynamics of a single coil pickup along with the bite and (if desired) distortion of a humbucker. The ideal pickup for Blues-/Crunch-sound. In comparison to the original, the P90 has greater output. A very hot tip for slide guitarists as well!

sweet lord it sings

I use it as a neck pickup in a Harley Benton les paul type guitar. At home with Laney TT20 tube combo, and numerous large tube amps, Marshall, Peavey, Vox, you name it. Every single person, including the pro tech guy who built it in was amazed by the tone of this thing. It is just amazingly beautiful whether used clean or gritty. I have had P90 pickups before, different ones, and I like them in general, but nothing so far comes close to this Gibson bar of beauty. I am so happy I chose this. I am not even a great player, but it just sounds beautiful even in my hands.

Perfection!
Anonymous 04.06.2016
I purchased a pair of these, neck and bridge to convert a '91 all-gold Deluxe from its original Mini Humbuckers to P90's,wanting to keep it 100% Gibson even if modified...obviously I've done it in such a way as to be totally reversible and I've kept the minis but can't see myself ever switching back!....these P90's are just perfect, excellent string to string balance requiring little polepiece adjustment, quite low noise for a single coil,no squeal and super punch and clarity when clean turning to harmonically rich and deep crunch as the gain goes up...they work really well with pedals ranging from Tubescreamer to Big Muff to a pretty vicious BOSS FZ3 and handle very high gain with ease...
I was initially playing through a Blues Deluxe but also use the LP with SS amps and just love the sound of these! Full marks to Gibson on these!

Suena a lo que debe sonar
JorgeCR 18.11.2020
