fender strings
Peter R. 438 30.06.2015
Fitted these Fender strings yesterday & done a couple of hours guitar prep for next gig Wednesday.

They sound nice, they hold the tuning well, they also did not need long to settle down to tuning, usually 4 or 5 re'tunes, but these needed only 2 & seem to be stable now.

I did a full afternoon gig, through my song list a few times (as different audience came and went) with these strings, No string breakages, only a couple of guitar re'tunes & still sounding bright for next gig.

My guitar is mic'ed (AKG 1000) and a Baggs magnetic p'up mixed together into my Marshall acoustic solo 100, ideal for outdoor gigs, strings must be pure steel (some strings are not) for the Baggs magnetic p'up to sound good, so these strings have passed the test for me & the price is very good compared to similar coated strings.

I have been paying 4 times more for coated strings, these are the answer to my string budget.

I
Bad choise!! Not a "coated" string
InsaneFuego 03.04.2023
I always use coated strings cause I ve got really sweaty hands. I always look for someting more cheap, cause I change strings every other week , and that os growing expensive. So i bought 3 sets of these just to try them out.
Unfortunatelly these "coated" duratones din't deliver...not even 3 hours!!

I strang up my acoustic (clean and polish the fretboard) and the next day just had a small 2 hour jam-rehearse in my house and the sound just died!!
I thougt it was just a coincidence, so I restrang with a new set of duratones...the end result the same!! 2-3 hours of casual strum in about 4 days and the heavey E - A - G just died. Dull sound and lifeless...

Thats unexceptable for this price and this brand (I love my fender guitars)
I ve used most of the "coated" strings and only the expencive ones are really durable and last for days (i ve never used the Black Smithyet).

I dont know if its only coated for the moisture of the atmosphaire or maybe for the "shelv life" of a guitar, but If you sweat a lot, look elsewhere.

Update. I gave the third set to my bandmember (girl that pick lightly , with no sweety hands) and the strings lasted 1 week!!
Worst coated strings ever!!

Great tone and very durable.

I've used a lot of different brands over the years from the cheap ones to the high priced coated ones but these are without doubt, my favorite. They are treated to resist dirt and grime and keep their tonal characteristics longer while at the same time not being muffled inside a sock.

I teach and I play gigs regularly and these strings just last and last. They feel superb under the fingertips, the tone is nice and bright without being too overpowering and there's good bottom end in there too giving a nice rich foundation.

Solid Performance

I tried these strings for unplugged gigs and was not dissappointed. They have a bright tone and a decent bass end too. A hardwearing and long life product with colour coded nuts for easy string identification.Good value and solid performance all round.
