Double the digital effects

The Eventide H90 combines and expands the functionality of two of the company's H9 Max units. The 62 customisable algorithms – with the capacity to add even more – include all the effects of the H9 Max, as well as a whole host of new effects. The H90 takes the concept of the harmoniser to the next level: It can save algorithms, is MIDI-compatible, and allows two algorithms to be accessed simultaneously. Users can edit directly on the device, as well as with external software, and there are options for individual routing, spill over, and configurable real-time control for each preset. As always, users can rely on the first-class quality of Eventide's algorithms. The H90 is equipped with a significantly more powerful ARM processor – the same one used in Eventide's flagship model, the H9000. The pedal – which includes a memory function – offers two stereo inputs and outputs, extended control options via up to six external footswitches, and two expression pedals, making it ideal for both live musicians and studio use.

Twice the power – plus turbo

When equipping the H90, Eventide added further algorithms to the acclaimed effects spectrum found in the H9 Max. The H90 allows the use of two effects per preset (from the total of 62), with variable routing to two stereo outputs, an insert option, and real-time parameter control. As well as being equipped with an ARM processor that can be updated later with additional effects, the H90 offers all the algorithms from the TimeFactor (10), ModFactor (10), PitchFactor (10), and Space (12) packages, all the exclusive algorithms from the H9, including Tricera Chorus, HotSawz, CrushStation, Sculpt, and UltraTap – and some exclusive new additions. New features include simulations of tape and BBD echoes, two pitch shifters, emulations of the Uni-Vibe, the TS-808, and the classic SP2016, instant phaser, and instant flanger. The existing algorithms have also been further optimised, and the graphic display, five push encoders, and numerous function buttons make the user interface itself clear and well thought-out.

Quality in focus

The H90 is aimed at discerning and demanding users who aren't satisfied with conventional pedals or typical multi-effect units. Eventide algorithms offer the very best sound and a parameter selection which speaks to both technical prowess and skilled musicianship. Unlike the H9, the new processor offers the option of using two algorithms, as well as spill over, and combining them via the programmable routing. In addition, complex real-time functions can be realised via integrated tools such as the hot knob parameter or two optional expression pedals. And guitarists are not the only ones who will enjoy working with the new H90 – we can also recommend it for bassists and keyboard players; and for all-round studio use, it provides two analogue stereo inputs and outputs that can be individually assigned as required.

About Eventide

The US manufacturer Eventide is one of the pioneers of digital audio technology. The company has existed since the early 1970s and began with developments in the broadcasting sector and digital delay effects. As early as 1974 they unveiled the H910, a pitch shifter revolutionary at the time. The H3000 (1986) was milestone in the field of digital effects and was very popular with professional musicians in recording studios and live performances. The following generations of this model were ever more powerful and culminated in the current flagship H9000. Since 2007, Eventide has also been developing compact pedals, primarily for guitarists and keyboard players. To this day, Eventide's algorithms are considered among the best on the market.

One pedal, two algorithms, a thousand sounds

The H90 can be used to create a huge variety of high-quality effects. As a rule, users will want to prepare their sounds in advance, simply due to the abundance of parameters – but effects can also be changed interactively on stage, using the three integrated footswitches (a maximum of six can be optionally connected), MIDI input, and two expression pedals. As a system with both its own memory and MIDI accessibility, the H90 can be integrated into a network with other devices and fully utilise its functionality. Thanks to the flexible routing, the two algorithms can also be placed variably within the signal path for each preset – before the amp and/or in its loop, in series or in parallel. These features make the H90 a genuinely powerful sound shaping tool and an excellent choice for any musician or studio. In addition, a perfectly programmed software suite (H90 Control) allows users to create and manage all their effects and parameters on an external computer or tablet, making access to the detailed algorithms and sophisticated routing systems astonishingly easy.

In the spotlight: Eventide's H-Series pedals

Eventide's extensive range of high-quality audio processing algorithms is one of the keys to the company's decades of success. After making a series of these algorithms from the 19" processors available in pedal form with the four units in their Factor series, Eventide created the H9 as a series of devices that can be equipped with variable algorithms and programmed via a graphical user interface on a computer or tablet. The H90 offers double the number of algorithms, variable routing, a raft of new algorithms, and a more powerful processor.

I do not understand all the Hype???
Scouwy 19.01.2023
It has tons of possibilities but it takes ages to sift through and separate the crap from the good stuff. It;s marketeered as very user friendly. Unfortunately not my conclusion. From the 100 program presets there were maybe 10 usable in a regular song context. It does everything but mainly weirdo sounds. For a rock guy like me this was pure time waste. I've sent it back. Sorry Eventide.

Grandios, vielseitig und mit CV-Eingängen!
fonitronik 25.01.2023

Toller Sound, bitterer Beigeschmack
BeiGelbBremser 28.05.2024

Latenz.
