What can you say about perfection !
I've tried heavy sound edge Hi-Hats to be crisp, cutting and loud, but the chick never sounded quite right.
I've tried lighter jazz Hi-Hats which are well balanced, but not loud enough.
I've considered regular heavy Hi-Hats, but the chick is more of a thud.
After being thoroughly impressed with a couple of K-Custom Hybrid splashes, I decided to splash out on this. It's the "Holy Grail" of Hi-Hats ! The best I've found in a lifetime ! It was a bit of a gamble going for this size, but I'm glad I didn't get the larger size. I'm now achieving sounds I've longed for from recordings made way back. My first impression on picking it up was that it was heavier than expected, but it's tough and powerful. The Hybrid concept of lathing (quite heavily) the outside only really does work to extend the highs without losing the lows. Excellent !

Nachdem ich mein Leben lang 14" Hi-Hats gespielt habe immer wieder gehört, die Control und das Ansprechverhalten seien bei kleinen Hi-Hats deutlich besser. Da ich die Custom Hybrid Serie von Zildjian sehr gern habe, musste ich früher oder später also in diese zugegebenermaßen teure Hi-Hat investieren. Ich wurde nicht enttäuscht. Sie spielt sich quasi von selbst, liefert einen sehr prägnanten Chick und aufgrund des etwas "geriffelten" Randes des Hi-Hat-Bottoms ist es sehr einfach, ein schön und professionell klingendes Zischen zu produzieren. Wenn man das Ziel der optimalen Hi-Hat-Beherrschung vorallem bei filegranen Fills und Grooves verfolgt, kommt einem dieses Instrument als wertvolles Tool ein großes Stück auf dem Weg entgegen.
