The build quality is without compromise. Frequency response is great on all frequencies. Very comfortable sits on the head (because of soft pads), even with eyeglasses.

Good for monitoring, BUT you need time to get used to its sound, because of a special capsule design (implemented in this model, kind of "improvement for a deeper focus" but, on the other hand, the stereo image differents from the one that encounters in other headphones and considers as "typical").

And the second thing you need to know. They are very closed-type. I mean, you don't hear any outside external sound, when wearing them, especially when playing music in it.
For someone, it would be ideal: for DJs, or nights in a dormitory... :)
For vocal recordings, it's not very suitable because you don't hear yourself (only in mic) from the side at all when singing , even when screaming. So for this purpose, I recommend something less-closed.
Because if you, while recording, even use only one headphone's side (L or R) - the sound will come to a mic from the opened side, the same, like with less closed headphones. In that case, less closed headphones would be more compromising.

Usually the Yamaha brand does everything with high quality. In this case, I used the headphones for a year and the ear pads cracked. A year later-sorry,is this Yamaha ......... on average I used them every other day for 30 minutes. The conclusion is a good sound (price-quality), but the ear pads are made very poorly. Really from bad material. For such a price, even common cotton would be better. Company saved on this. Now they had raised the price of them. I think the price is too high.
