Technical data:
The Hero Spot 230 is not only the most powerful member of Varytec's Hero Spot series but also one of the most powerful spots in its price range, with performance levels that exceed those of its competitors in multiple respects. Designed for professionals, the moving head includes many advanced features that include sophisticated fan management for on-stage use as well as selectable pulse width modulation (PWM) and a variable beam angle for TV and film productions. Motorised zoom and focus, static and rotatable gobo wheels, and circular and linear prisms as well as a colour wheel with seven colours round off the impressive list of features. In terms of connections, the Hero Spot 230 has both three-pin and five-pin XLR sockets for DMX output on either 6 or 18 channel modes.
The Varytec Hero Spot 230 is powered by 230W LEDs with a beam angle between 11° and 25°. Seven gobos on two wheels, one of which can be rotated, and the two prisms, which can also rotate clockwise or anti-clockwise, provide a wealth of effects. In addition to an open position, the colour wheel features warm white, red, green, light and dark blue, yellow and magenta, with split colours also possible, while the pulse width modulation, which can be adjusted in five steps between 650Hz and 25kHz, is a highly practical feature for film and video production. With the two included omega brackets, it is also a breeze to integrate the Hero Spot 230 into a lighting rig. The highly versitle spot can be operated with automatic programmes, in master-slave and sound-to-light modes via DMX, or via the menu buttons on the device.
Made for professional use in larger venues, the Varytec Hero Spot 230 offers outstanding lighting capabilities with a wealth of available effects. While event organisers without a lighting console can readily access eight built-in automatic show programmes via the spot's menu options, club owners will love the strobe function and the convenience of having automatic pan-tilt programmes on just six DMX channels. For live venues, 18 DMX channels open even more creative possibilities. Film and video producers meanwhile can rest assured that the Hero Spot 230 will provide the best possible lighting for their camera equipment thanks to adjustable pulse width modulation, and theatre professionals will also greatly appreciate the spot's silent fan mode.
Over the years, Thomann has greatly enriched its already extensive range of lighting products with its in-house brand Varytec. In addition to LED spotlights, theatre lighting, and moving lights, Varytec offers an arsenal of matching accessories. Tripods, cables, power distributors, and all kinds of other components are, like the lighting solutions themselves, manufactured by well-known names in the field. The firm's direct sales approach, which eliminates intermediate retailers, ensures that all of these products are nevertheless attractively priced. Varytec's range comprises well over 200 items, which will illuminate everything from home-streamer setups to photo studios, theatres, and concert halls.
For big shows, multiple Varytec Hero Spots can be used in groups to generate atmospheric scenes in 18-channel mode with individually controllable colours and split options. Users can also take things to the next level by utilising the moving head's gobos with shake effects and prism rotations with motorised focus to create dramatic effects. The spot also features three operating modes for the fan. Those looking to run the Hero Spot 230 as quietly as possible can take advantage of the silent mode, which also enables a reduction in light output. For precise static lighting applications, on the other hand, the user can select one of the three black-out modes, which are triggered when either pan/tilt or the colour and gobo wheels are active.
