Great for hard-work on private parties/practise
Faustas 13.07.2020
The Tama Mini set is absolute solution if you're full-time private cover-band musician - takes very little space, comfortable to transport. Practising is easier as well - since it's not that loud/boomy. We use in-ear and mics - with a bit of EQing it's more than okay.
Of course, compared to high-end products you will notice that difference in sound clarity/build quality... but that's what You get for the money.
Anyway, I personally used the bass drum mostly for some rnb/dance genre music, it kind of inspires to play differently. Perhaps it's because the sound is much easier to get from small diameter drums.
Anyway, the biggest trouble for me was the Bass drum legs - they're free to move when untied, so - no memory, no lock, no grooves where you can perfectly adjust leg's height. So it's a bit time consuming every time, especially when You're used to high-end self-locking mechanisms.

Summary: The overall quality, if you're looking for a cheap work horse, isn't bad. It's decently built but has it's issues with hardware (drum legs are harder to adjust). Sound is what You'd expect from it - Need microphones to have decent lows - acoustically they're very mid-range focused. If I were playing private parties again - I'd definitely buy it again - it's transportation and space requirements is every drummer's dream.

Great

You could never be disappointed by Tama, the snare is very good and could do a perfect job with as a second high snare
a little dampening for the kick and a port will sound like a 22 inch bass drum with a good mic :)

Perfect compact kit
Happy tapper 31.05.2023
This kit really feels great to play.
I wanted to reduce my footprint on stage, and carry fewer cases up stairs. This is ideal, even once I purchased the additional two Toms.
Lots of people complementing the sound too.
It squeezes into the corner of my office so I can practice at home and not take up too much space.

Kleines und gut gemachtes Kit
Werner J. 09.02.2021
