Sovtek 12AX7LPS

One of the main issues I had to undertake as a Peavey Classic 50 212 (<2000) owner was the reverb not working at all after several years of use. One might think "ok, take the old tubes out, and replace them with new ones". Sure, but what are you supposed to do when there are no specs on the old tubes (just an 12AX7)? You dig!
After digging in shops, YT videos, blogs and forums, I ended up to use the "ol' faithful russian" to do the task with the phase reverse and the spring reverb "manipulation".
Great! Everything back to normal! I even experience better control on how the amp's reverb "breaks up" as I turn the knob. Great tones for rock/blues (my thing), my Strat sings like a humming bird. The tube seems to combine very nicely with the preamp and gain tubes (Tung Sol, TAD) giving my amp all the depth and bite it had when I bought it - it also feels a little bit crunchier, although I put the same power tubes as before. So, nice LPS tube for the classic series, should give it a try!

"Chez Sovtek, il quand même faut se méfier : pour les 12AX7 (tube le plus utilisé dans nos amplis), il y a pas mal de références disponibles, dont certaines vraiment pas terribles (les plus "low-cost" en l'occurrence). En effet elle fonctionne vraiment bien !

Ich war auf der suche nach einer brauchbaren Vorstufenröhre für meinen Ashdown ABM 500 Evo III.
Beim Kauf war eine Chinaröhre verbaut, die klang genauso wie man es sich vorstellt.
Vor einigen Jahren besaß ich einen Evo II und war vom Sound derartig überzeugt, dass es nun wieder ein ABM werden musste.
Im Evo II war eine TAD 12AX7 verbaut, welche ebenfalls toll klang.
Wie sehr die Chinaröhre im Evo III jedoch den Klang zerstören würde, war mir nicht bewusst.
Der Umstieg auf die 12AX7LPS verschaffte den Eindruck eines völlig anderen Amps. Und ich höre absolut nicht das Gras wachsen, soll heißen, man muss mich schon überzeugen können :-)
Der Klang ist um Welten druckvoller und voller.
Die Röhrenzerre würde ich als sehr warm, rund und sahnig beschreiben. Im Prinzip genau das was ich gesucht habe!
Man bekommt den ohnehin schon rockigen Charakter der ABM Tops noch zusätzlich fett und dreckig, ohne dass es matscht oder billig klingt. Das Frequenzspektrum bleibt auch vollständig erhalten.
Diese Röhre lohnt sich definitv!
Zur Verarbeitung muss ich nicht viel sagen, russisch solide, sauber und hochwertig mit stabilen, dicken Kontakten. So gehört es sich!
