I bought the ears because I though: "If the cable breaks, I just buy another one for 10-20 bucks. So I pay more money now, but eventually I will benefit".
I did not do my research. And boy was I wrong. The cable is too expensive, almost a rip-off. After exactly 3 years the cable is broken again. I think I almost payed 200 euros for 6 year use of the SE215's. The funny thing is that every time it breaks, it breaks by the hardened plastic area near the ears itself (the part that bends behind the ears). This happened to me twice now! The effect is that one of the two ears starts to sound soft, the audio starts cutting out, their is noise on it etc.
I do love the SE215 itself, great audio. But the whole concept misses it's purpose. Why have a replaceable cable, when there is no advantage? I might aswel pay an extra 30 and have brand new SE215's.

I will look into alternatives.

Fine....for the short length of time they work
Anonymous 08.08.2016
You like me are this far and probably stuck forking out to replace your old broken cable. And like me you are giving the business to Thomann with their fantastic 3 year guarantee as you KNOW they will stop working far too soon. Well 8 months after purchasing, after they exhibited problems after only 6 months I've just tried to return under warranty. And guess what? It's not covered as it's a "wear and tear" item. Sigh. At a premium price for such a simple cable 6 months isn't good enough. Here's to the future and wireless earbuds with proper battery life so we can escape this racket...
