Precise monitoring in a compact design

The Presonus Eris Studio 5 is an active studio monitor from the Eris series, and comes equipped with a tweeter and woofer for a frequency range of 48Hz to 20kHz. Delivering an impressive sound pressure level of 102dB at a distance of one metre, the monitor's special design features an expanded 120° horizontal dispersion to create a broader sweet spot, while the narrow vertical dispersion angle reduces reflections in situ to give precise monitoring. An excellent transient response is also delivered courtesy of a silk-dome tweeter, while the woven-composite woofer produces a clear bass. In addition, flexible connection options at the rear of the monitor allow seamless integration into any setup.

Presonus Eris Studio 5

Expressive sound for every room

In combination with the bass reflex opening, the 5.25" woofer covers the low frequencies of the Presonus Eris Studio 5, reproducing frequencies of 48Hz and above. The 1" tweeter is characterised by its low weight and delivers a clear transient response. The rear of the monitor is equipped with flexible connection options, as well as the sound adjustment options and gain control function. Highs and mids from 10KHz and 1kHz, respectively, can be progressively reduced and amplified by up to 6dB, allowing the unit to be easily integrated in an acoustic room, while the low-pass filter setting can be adjusted to 80Hz or 100Hz. The Acoustic Space control filters frequencies below 800Hz by either -2dB or -4dB to counteract any gain in these frequencies that might occur when the Presonus Eris Studio 5 is placed close to a wall.

For flexible monitoring

The Presonus Eris Studio 5 provides the perfect compact solution for studios where space is at a premium, but where high-fidelity details are still at the heart of successful productions – thanks in no small part to its special EBM (Elliptical Boundary Modelled) waveguides, which deliver a superior treble response. The balanced 6.3mm TRS jack, unbalanced RCA jack, and the XLR input at the rear of the monitor also enable flexible integration into any setup. A range of adjustment options, found at the rear of the monitor, allow the sound to be adapted to the specific acoustic space, resulting in optimum sound even in the smallest of production areas. In addition to extensive flexibility, integrated protection circuits comprising RF shielding, output current limitation, and over-temperature and subsonic protection functions ensure that the Presonus Eris Studio also delivers on reliability.

About Presonus

Presonus is a US company founded in 1995 by Jim Odom and Brian Smith in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The firm designs hardware and software at both professional and more affordable levels for musicians and producers. Presonus first made a splash in the mid-1990s with the DCP8, an eight-channel analogue compressor/limiter/gate with fader and mute automation that could be digitally controlled by MIDI. In the early 2000s followed a series of microphone amplifiers and the first audio interfaces for the then-emerging home studio scene. Today, the company's product range includes audio interfaces, microphone preamps, digital mixing consoles, and studio monitors as well as the established DAW software Studio One.

Optimum setup for the perfect sound

The Presonus Eris Studio 5, which weighs in at 5.2kg, can be installed on a stand or studio table. Produced from vinyl-laminated MDF and featuring rounded corners for an elegant design, the Eris Studio 5 makes an impact in any music studio. For the optimum stereo triangle, two of these monitor models can simply be arranged at a distance of one metre apart and equidistant from the listener, ensuring a 30° angle between both monitors and the listener. Ideally, the monitor should be positioned 20 to 30cm from the wall, but if this is not achievable with the Presonus Eris Studio 5, the Acoustic Space switch can be used to compensate for increased bass caused by reflections. The use of short cable routes is recommended with the Presonus Eris Studio 5 in order to prevent the occurrence of noise interference in the monitor signal.

Definitely C-Stock

Although the monitors seem to work as expected, one of them came covered in brown dust/dirt on its top. Even the inside of the bass port at the bottom was evenly layered with it, and not only just at its entrance, but all the way to the back of it (which is quite deep). It makes you wonder where it's been other than "in use for a few days for demonstration purposes". I'd expect even C-stock items to arrive moderately clean. The dirty monitor also didn't arrive with its manual or its 4 sticky pad feet to apply (the cleaner one did), but that's more excusable. After cleaning the monitor with a damp cloth and the inside of its bass port using a ruler to help reach the back of it, it looks just as decent as the other monitor. As for signs of use in terms of scratches or anything loose, I haven't noticed anything major or minor.

Sehr gute Lautsprecher
