Y-Box Guitar Splitter

PALMER Y-Box, splitbox for guitar signals. "When I am connecting the inputs of my two amplifiers, there is a strong hum." A frequent query in the technical section of relevant specialist magazines. The solution to this problem is the Palmer Y-Box. An FET input circuit converts the high-impedance guitar signal and, at the same time, forms the driver circuit for a transformer that directs the signal to the output ground-free. The hum loop is avoided. Operation with 9 V battery recommended.

The box can also be used as cable driver for large cable length. In addition, it is possible for the output AMP2 to phase-shift the signal. This is often necessary when two (pre)amplifiers are connected in parallel.

  • Clinking input with 1 Mohm input impedance
  • Output AMP1 as parallel circuit
  • Output AMP2 is electronically converted with a subsequent transformer stage
  • Operation with 9V battery recommended
  • 5 years manufacturing guarantee

I use this splitter to have a problem free wet-dry rig.
The isolated output and phase reversal are a great feature for a two amp setup.

Extremely sturdy, this also makes it a bit on the heavy side.

Problem Solved!

A great little box that is the perfect solution for splitting a signal between amplifiers. The sound quality is excellent and the switching is silent. A very well made unit that is worth every penny.

JY
Ultimate solution for splitting signals
Jason Y. 08.09.2014
I use this pga03 ybox to split my guitar to two amp heads and this box of magic is fantastic. There is no loss of signal and it is a a solid piece of kit; there is no chance of it falling apart or letting you down. The jack connections seem pretty high quality and it has good battery life. The phase reverse and ground lift functions are handy as well.
The pga03 is great and looks cool too with a nice blue finish.
What is great about the ybox is that there is no humming or buzzing, it is one of the best signal splitters out there.
This is my favourite tool, it allows me to run two signal chains, going through each channel of my compressor to both my amps. It has a solid built metal casing which after a year is still in as new condition. Runs on batteries or a power supply and mine came with a few palmer plectrums, which aren't bad in themselves; chalky feel and a decent thickness. This is far superior to a y cable or similar, only downside is you can't switch between each output like an a/b/y however for my needs this isn't important.

Very sturdy, works as intended

Built like a tank, and does the job. I could not detect any change to the sound.
The only negative is the metal "lip" around the housing, which makes this difficult to use with angled jacks.
The lip can be removed with a metal saw, though.
