The Orange O bass comes in well padded, quality gig bag. The quality of the bass is incredible for the money. We’ll set up with small amount of fretbuzz - soon sorted that out.
The neck is well finished and comfortable to play. Nice weight and feel - with neat binding.

Playing through Orange OB1 amp with pair of 2 x 12 isobaric cabs - just WOW. This bass grinds! Big fat bottom end , what you would expect from precision type pickups with just a little more grit.

Played through Markbass Big Bang head and matching 2 x 10 cab, this smoothed the sound to deep and clear tones with a nice top zing. Turn up the gain and back comes that driven sound.

Fell in love with the O bass however, it looses 1 star because of a single niggle. It’s very neck heavy and (for me), just doesn’t hang well with a strap. This may not be an issue to others? The strap button is in the wrong position requiring constant shifting of the strap to get bass in position.

For rock, stoner, indie, grunge. Possibly reggae, dub etc. Anything needing fat bottom with a little dirt. Even with neck dive, the quality and sound of the O bass is very good for the money

Cette basse correspond exactement aux critères dont je rêvais pour une basse, après toutes ces années d’expériences diverses.
Je souhaitais une basse passive, donc sans piles, simple, pas une usine à pannes, un micro double en 2 pans, une position centrale ni haute (manche) ni trop basse. Maniable et pas trop lourde. Un son accrocheur avec une âme, une personnalité, et un penchant vintage.

Verdict : Elle à tout cela et même au delà de mes attente. Si j'avais du la fabriquer, j'aurais fait exactement ça. Bonus : super look, belle finition, le potard de tone très efficace qui permet un son doux jusqu'à mordant et clair, au moins trois teintes bien identifiables. Malus : le manche plonge vers l'avant, prenez une bonne sangle bien large.
Utilisation : Répète, concert, école de musique (je suis prof) indoor et outdoor. Je la couple a la big muff deluxe PI d'eletro harmonix, réglage : un tone tout à gauche, un blend a 9h basse naturelle, et le sustain 12h, les 2 potards de tonalité medium à 3h, et j'ai un son de malade, en sortie DI, direct sur console, basta l'ampli de 50 kgs, les retours me suffisent, et le son est ouf :p
Je l'adore, elle est arrivé pliée à une des mécaniques (pain transport), j'ai pas voulu la renvoyer tellement j'arrive pas à m'en passer depuis que je l'ai reçue. Thomann toujours au top et réceptif aux clients a accepté mon deal et me commande une mécanique de secours auprès d'orange.
j'ai redressé doucement la mécanique pliée, elle n'a pas pété, et sinon j'ai baissé un peu la hauteur des cordes, en équilibrant le ratio hauteur/le volume du son, à la balance de la console. Les outils sont fournis, la housse est de qualité et bien rembourrée, et le neck noir sympa, mais je préfère le blanc pour rester dans le code couleur orange.
Pour ce prix et si vous aimez le son rock un peu ancien et vivant, c'est un bel investissement.

Toll, dachte ich, ein Bass von Orange. Muss ich haben. Wie gewohnt von Thomann war der neue Bass ruckzuck da. Schön orange, mit einer ordentlichen schwarzen Tasche und Werkzeugsatz. Als Gag gibt es noch ein Schlagbrett in schwarz zum Tauschen. Kurzer Check, Saitenlage, Halskrümmung gut justiert. Der Pickup müsste noch etwas eingestellt werden, da die E-Saite deutlich lauter ist als die anderen. Angenehm leicht ist er. Gute Potis dran, der Toneregler spricht gut an für einen passiven Bass, Mechaniken sind ordentlich. Aber dann ging es los. Spielt man ihn im Stehen ist er extrem Kopflastig, dass geht auf die linke Hand. Auf Dauer einen ordentlichen Fingersatz zu spielen wird schnell anstrengend. Der Bass ist wohl eher für Punk gedacht, vielleicht funktioniert es wenn man ihn vor die Knie hängt. Dann im sitzen gespielt, da wurde mir der Daumen der rechten Hand nach einiger Zeit taub, weil der Arm immer auf dem scharfkantigen Korpus liegt. Sound? Richtig schön knurrig, für Jazz ist der nicht gemacht. Eher für Metal oder Rock. Aber das erwartet man ja auch bei Orange. Aufgrund der schlechten Ergonomie habe ich ihn dann doch wieder zurück gesendet. Ich bleibe beim meinem Fender Precision.
