I bought this stand as my MIDI Keyboard doesn't feature a music stand and there is no space in my small project studio to fit a traditional tripod based music stand.
I place this stand on the upper control section of the Keyboard and balance it in this small real estate using the weight of the music as a counterbalance. It does the job admirably and has solved the issue of where to put music scores.
I'd imagine it would do an even better job on a flat stable surface.
You do need to be careful when setting it up as the vertical metal leg holding the Uniboy up can slip out of it's metal slot while you fiddle with the stand without you noticing. This leads to a sudden collapse of the stand and your music. However, once it's in the slot and setup correctly the weight of the music holds it in place.
Pros
Very simple and effective design.
The price is outstanding.
Once setup properly will hold the music securely.
Cons
Will struggle with very thick books.
No colour choice.

Great for photocopies
Edgar Blackdagger 14.11.2020
You obviously can't expect it to hold a heavy book, but for spiral books or photocopies it's perfect if you study in front of a desk or in a hotel room, away from your beloved "real" music stand.

Very handy gadget

I always found entering written information or transcribing music into the computer a cumbersome process. With the paper flat on the desk, it was at the wrong angle. On a music stand beside the desk, I had to turn my head all the time. Either way led to frequent loss of my place, neck strain and frustration.
This stand improves matters greatly. I set the written material on it next to the computer monitor, so head movements are minimal, and it's easier to keep my place. The tasks get done quicker, more accurately, with less neck strain and frustration. Happy days.
It won't support thick books so well, but no big deal. If it's a problem I just use photocopies of the relevant pages.

Un petit accessoire bien pratique
numero66 22.03.2021
