NIce replacement for cheaper Hofner basses
ClubMan 31.03.2016
I ordered these tuning machines to replace the stock tuners on a Hofner Ignition Club Bass, since the original felt really cheap and clumsy. These are supposed to be the ones that go on the expensive German Hofner basses, and even they still look like guitar tuners with a plain open mechanism, they are well made and feel smooth and steady.
It's worth noting that they come with bushings and mounting screws, as a set (I was not sure because it is not mentioned in the product description).
Keep in mind though that it is not a direct replacement for an Ignition bass: some minor work has to be done in order to accomodate these tuners. The bushings are slightly larger in diameter, so the holes on the Ignition headstock need to be widened (about 1mm). Then, one of the mounting screws fits one of the existing holes, but for the other screw it's necessary to drill a new guide hole.

Beatles Bass Upgrade
Anonymous 06.04.2015
I have fitted these to my Ignition Beatles Bass as a direct replacement for the ones it comes installed with.
As other reviewers state you will have to drill one pilot hole per machine head and half of the unused hole from the previous machine heads will be showing.
I have chosen to leave this hole unfilled and unpainted as you cannot see it unless you know its there or you are scrutinising it very closely.
You do not need to install the machine head peg guides (metal sleeves) that come with these but if you want to fit them you will need to drill the peg guide holes out to fit them (more work than is necessary in my view).
They are an excellent replacement being manufactured of higher quality metals that are not loose like the original machine heads.

Perfect and authentic quality
Cees 18.05.2019
I used the Höfner 63 H61/73B tuners for a Hofner "1963" bass-guitar restoration project and they where a perfect match in style (looked the same and had the same measurements). Also the quality is sublime, they used some good materials for the knobs and gears and it runs smoothley. And the most important thing:"they stay perfectly in tune"
