Very cheap choice for Gibson/Epiphone style guitars
luke99 28.10.2020
My Epiphone comes with a black toggle cap and I wanted to give it more of a Gibson look. Fits my Epiphone Dot, and Vintage SG guitar, looks good. I don't think anyone could spot if you have a Gibson or a Harley Benton cap, especially when they're both same size, material and colour. The price difference between the original Gibson part and this is substantial and definitely something to consider.

R
Let down by a small detail
RichardH59 23.06.2017
The cap is fine, but fitting is a nightmare!

I bought this to replace the original on my HB-60WB bass which I managed to break due to not seating the guitar properly in it's case.

As black caps were temporarily unavauilable I bought some amber and ivory caps. Ivory looks great on my HB as it matches the binding.

The problem is that there is no internal screw thread on the cap. The toggle shaft is not, I believe, self tapping, and it is therefore hard (impossible for me so far!) to mount the cap.

I tried widening the hole. A 3.5mm drill bit made little difference. With a 4mm hole the cap slipped on easily. Unfortunately it slips off just as easily.

I solved the problem by lining the 4mm hole with some soft metal foil from a wine bottle. I was then able to screw the toggle on and it is now firmly in place.

To sum up then, a perfectly good replacement part let down by a small but important detail. Fitting a toggle cap should be a 10 second job, not a major engineering task (ok then, bodge!) :-)

Great toggle cap, does what it's supposed to and fits perfectly on my CST-24T. Of course it's not the highest quality plastic, but it does the job and looks good.

I
A cheaper Alternative for G Les Paul toggle Cap
IbbyG 24.02.2022
Not the exact fit to replace G LP toggle cap, had to tinker a bit in order to get it to screw on to the toggle switch in my G LP Standard, which was lost when a friend accidently dropped the guitar causing a bit of damage almost 10 years ago.
Still, very happy with the result!
