Pickup

The 498T is the hotter version of a vintage pickup with a higher internal resistance and higher power output. The 498T has an average sound character when compared with the 490T, and is therefore preferably used for the bridge position; especially when the player wants to generate warm and singing lead sounds. The 498T has a vintage Alnico magnet and is used by Gibson for Les Paul Studios, Les Paul Standards and Les Paul Custom guitars in the bridge position.

Gibson Quality

I bought this pickup and the Gibson 490R CC Humbucker Pickup for my Ibanez ES50 (1982) This is a great combination and it has basically turned my guitar into a Gibson! The most noticeable thing is the richness and quality of the sound. I'm playing better because of it. I have also wired the pickups to work as single coils which has opened up a seemingly endless amount of sound and tone variations. I have every sound I've been looking for in one guitar. I also replaced the electrics, potentiometers, capacitors etc. with Gibson parts. I'm not sure how much this has helped to improve the sound but my guess is it has. (no comparison) Certainly worth the outlay.

I
Great rock-metal Pickup!
Ignat 02.06.2017
I installed this one in my Gibson LP Custom'76. Previous pickup was Gibson 490T, but it sounds a little bit flat with hi-gain. But now with 498T it's really screams. Good clarity, powerful sound, great mids. Stunning pickup for rock/metal!

J
Gibson P-498T CC
JoeF 20.05.2013
The Gibson Gibson P-498T CC is a Bridge pick up best suited to the rockier genre, after receiving them I opened them up to find a sturdy well built pick up, they fitted nicely into my Epiphone Firebird without any hassle at all, after plugging in and turning up all I can say is that I was amazed, there was such a huge leap in tone definition and presence, i sounded like a completely new guitar worth twice the price! If you have an old guitar you love but doesn't provide the sound you now demand, these are the pick ups for you, they provide a instant 'gibsonesk' sound for a fraction of the price of buying a new guitar, they sound fantastic with clean, distortion and crunch sound but iv even pushed them and used them for metal and more hardcore songs, Buy them now!
