When I ordered this bass I did it with low expectations about its quality because well, it's a Squier and a really cheap one at that.
Apparently somewhere along the packaging process someone left part of the box in a humid environment and so part of the box came soggy, something which I was really worried about.
After unboxing it I was relieved that the instrument didn't get wet even thought the cardboard was really soggy on one side. I wasn't expecting what I unpacked right there.
Just... wow, once I opened the package and inspected it I was left in awe. I knew this Mini Precision was small and light but I didn't know it was THAT light, it makes my Fender Stratocaster seem heavy in comparison even when they are almost the same size.
Not only that but I was astonished about how it came right out of the box. It seems it already got a setup, low action with no buzz, just as I like it.
The neck is super comfortable, no scratchy frets (every one of those is rounded and trimmed) and the fingerboard has rolled edges. I gotta say that if this neck came with a gloss or satin finish it would have surpassed my Made in Mexico Fender Jazz neck in terms of comfort right off the bat, I'm really impressed.
Of course the bass is not perfect, it has some neck dive, the straplocks are really tiny and the pickups' edges are somewhat sharp but nothing that a couple mods can't fix, and being a Squier it's really easy to find Fender compatible hardware for it.
I remember I added a note on my order telling the Thomann crew to find me the one with the best build quality they could find at hand given that this is the first time I buy an instrument online, and they didn't disappoint! Thank you for that!
