A true icon
The Fender Precision Bass is one of the true icons of music history, and it has remained virtually unchanged since 1957. There is of course good reason for this: Hardly any other bass has shaped such a large number of musical styles as Leo Fender's legendary four-string. The design of course receives occasional (and conservative) updates in order to cater to bass players' wishes, and in keeping with this trend Fender has revised and modernised certain features of its new Player Series models, including the split coil pickup and overall playing feel, all while staying true to the classic design and concept that made this bass such an icon in the first place. Simple formula, outstanding results
One thing that has not changed is the combination of ingredients that make up a Fender Precision Bass, including an alder body, maple neck, and 20-fret maple fingerboard. These elements are combined with a split coil pickup, in this case a New Player AlNiCo V that provides even more punch, precision, and dynamics and is governed by a single control each for volume and tone. All of this gives the Precision Bass the classic tone for which it has been known and loved for decades and makes it suitable for everything from Motown to Rock. In keeping with modern musicians' requirements in terms of playability, the neck profile of this bass has also been slightly slimmed down and the fingerboard edges rolled, making the transition from one position to the next more comfortable. About Fender
