Deluxe echo from the Factor series
Echoes have always been one of the most consistently popular effects, and every musician has their personal favourites, whether it's a warm, organic tape echo, a gritty '80s unit, or a clean, perfectly synced multitap delay, with or without modulation and filtering. The Eventide TimeFactor is powerful enough to combine this entire category in one programmable pedal that covers everything from doubling to slapback and tempo delays – it's even a fully-featured looper: This compact device can save every preset, reay to take it all on stage! And it doesn't just provide a single configurable delay – the TimeFactor is actually two independent units, making it possible to create some really spectacular stereo effects and or integrate it into even the most complex routing variations.
A studio's worth of pedal effects
The Eventide Factor models are far more than just conventional pedals: They are specialised studio effects with a carefully curated set of algorithms, housed in rugged yet compact enclosures, and with interfaces designed for real-time control. The TimeFactor, which focuses on echo effects, offers ten top-tier effect types, three footswitches, 11 knobs, a display, stereo inputs and outputs, and MIDI as well as inputs for external footswitches, an expression pedal, and a USB port for Eventide's free-of-charge editing software. Naturally, there's also a configurable bypass function to keep signal loss to a minimum.
A cornucopia of effects – 10 algorithms, 100 presets...
Every one of the Eventide TimeFactor's 100 presets draws on one of ten specialised algorithms, each of which makes good use of the full processing power of the onboard DSP to deliver uncompromising studio-quality audio – with up to three seconds of delay time per unit and a spillover function for seamless preset changes. This feature set is already more than enough to make the TimeFactor appealling even to working musicians and more experimental artists. Their other options include tape, vintage, and digital sounds, modulated, dynamic, and filtered echoes, reverse effects, and a multitap algorithm with up to ten taps. The looper offers 12 seconds of recording time, effectively replacing another entire pedal. Every algorithm's delay time and feedback can be adjusted, with a dedicated modulation section for each one too.
About Eventide
The US manufacturer Eventide is one of the pioneers of digital audio technology. The company has existed since the early 1970s and began with developments in the broadcasting sector and digital delay effects. As early as 1974 they unveiled the H910, a pitch shifter revolutionary at the time. The H3000 (1986) was milestone in the field of digital effects and was very popular with professional musicians in recording studios and live performances. The following generations of this model were ever more powerful and culminated in the current flagship H9000. Since 2007, Eventide has also been developing compact pedals, primarily for guitarists and keyboard players. To this day, Eventide's algorithms are considered among the best on the market.
Take it all from the studio to the stage
The Eventide TimeFactor's well-equipped control panel and clear display make it easy for musicians to dive right in, tweaking the sound-shaping parameters of the various effect algorithms – and they have even more control using an expression pedal or MIDI. On top of that, the free H9 Control editing suite gives users full access to the algorithms' parameters and presets – for macOS, Windows, and iOS. It's little surprise, then, that the Factor series – originally consisting of the Time, Pitch, and Mod models, as well as the Space reverb, an unofficial cousin thanks to its near-identical chassis – have been hugely popular on stage and in the studio since their launch. One major advantage they all have in common is the fact that their preset storage function allows creative musicians access to a constantly changing array of unique, personalised effects. And with their premium sound quality, versatile features, and the robust build and intuitive interface that life on stage demands, these pedals aren't just a hit with guitarists, but also with keyboard players, EDM live acts, and studio engineers. The TimeFactor was even used live by Roger Waters when playing "The Wall"
