I've only played these heads at band practice and so far I'm very pleased with the sound. The G12s seem to have a bit quicker decay and a slightly warmer sound than a standard 10mil single ply head, which is why 12mil drumheads are my new favourite pick for tom batters. I'm using them on my 13" and 16" toms. I dig the fact that drumhead companies are offering more "in-between" options. As far as pros and cons--these are perhaps not as deep and mid-range dominant as a standard double ply and not as bright and open as a standard single ply. The stick attack also seems a bit more present than a double ply head. Make of these points what you will. In short, if you're looking for something different and perhaps want an alternative to standard single ply, double ply and pre-dampened heads then give these a try. Other "in-between" options include the Remo Vintage A, Remo Ambassador X (which Thomann doesn't carry actually), Evans G14 and Aquarian super-2 series heads.

Great heads

I've been a Remo man for years but these have changed my mind. The "360" feature means that they sit much better on the bearing edge of my vintage kit, which aids tuning. Coated G12s on top, coated G1s on the bottom. Excellent!

Hervorragend
