MM
Dimarzio Area 67
Maxwell M. 30.01.2014
I purchased these to use in the neck and middle slots of a 2006 US Standard Stratocaster (Alder body, Maple neck, Rosewood Fretboard, Callaham trem block and saddles). I also purchased an Area 61 to go in the bridge. With regards to the Area 67s I think they sound pretty good as single coils, even clean. With distortion the greatly reduced noise is fantastic and was a key requirement for me as I tend to do home recording in quite a noisy room. The middle position of these pickups (67 in neck and middle) is good but does not quack to the same extent as a regular set of US standard strat pickups. However the sound is still recognisable as a strat neck and middle tone so if you are happy to trade off a slight compromise with position 4 and need the neck and middle single coils to be quiet on their own then this set is for you. They are fairly bright but not piercingly so. Unfortunately I did not like the Area 61 I purchased to use in the bridge with the 67s, I find that pickup to be too bright and piercing and to be less convincing as a strat pickup. I am considering whether I should put another 67 in the bridge or just make the guitar a H/S/S setup and keep the Area 67s. So for neck and middle I would recommend the Area 67s to someone who wants fairly vintage voiced strat pickups but without the hum in positions 3 and 5.

Y
Surprisingly sc-sounding!
Yngve72 29.12.2020
It’s been a while since I bought this one. I already had a DiMarzio in the bridge and neck position of my Stratocaster. Both of them were (intentionally) a tad more humbucker-sounding, and sounded great, but I wanted something that was noise canceling but with a proper single coil character in the middle. I switch pickups a lot while playing, and the hum from the original sc in the middle stood out. I was really pleasantly surprised with this one! It really gave me authentic Fender vibes - but without the 60 cycle hum. Highly recommended if you are after noiseless single coils that actually sounds like single coils!

Nailed it!

I have a strat classic player 60.
Didn?t use the bridge pickup because of the very thin voice it had. So, the plan was to replace the bridge single coil into this Area 67. It work out nicely or more.

Now the bridge position is pro sounding solo & riff overdrive.
I can honestly recommend to anyone in the same situation as I was.

P
Classic fender tone assured
Paulrivans 06.05.2015
Fitted this to my fender strat U.S. Standard in the middle position complemented with a hot rail in the bridge position. The sound is great, playing blues you get that lovely SRV, buddy guy, KWS and even Ritchie Blackmore, king king, robben ford sweet as pie. Tried so many other pickups which professed to be the best thing since sliced bread, well they're not! Dimazio have been around a long time and I just love thes pickups. A decent level output but without discolouring the tone. With a fender amp they are aware sweet and quacking along, through a Marshall, then you go into Hendrix land. Highly satisfied!
