Good value for money

I'm using it at home in the basement with an Alesis DM10 Pro kit. It is also powering a Box PA M 12 Eco on the other side of the kit. I wanted it specifically because the DM10 is a pain to set up to output in mono, so two inputs were preferable, although, of course the line and mic inputs have different impedances. Will probably use this set up as stage monitors for the occasional gig that I do. They will be better suited to this than as monitors for the drum kit as it is not a fan of some of the more aggressive bass drum hits. Live the drum monitor will be a mono feed from the desk to a more powerful amp.
Pros: does what it says on the tin, decent quality of sound, effective tone controls, automatic standby available (kicks in after about an hour). Seems well enough built, it's quite heavy but easy enough to carry with the handle and using the top hat mount as another hand hold, so I don't see this as a negative thing. Has a top hat mount so you can use it as a PA speaker too.
Cons: not very loud as a drum monitor, it clips quite early on kick drum hits. Much better as a general full range system. The standby system is weird. It is automatic, operating after about an hour after the last input signal, so you get the impression that pressing the standby button does nothing. Why it could not be a simple standby switch is a little puzzling.
In conclusion it really is quite a bargain. Would be ideal with an extension speaker for a small venue monitor system, it's OK with my Alesis kit for practicing and I am please I bought it as it is versatile enough to be used as the basis of a small party PA system, stage or drum rehearsal monitor. Recommended.

Super!
Madjon 25.03.2022
We have 2 of these in our band, they are both clear and punchy and have not let us down over at least the last 5 years.

Loud enough for a good loud pub rock band with acoustic drums as floor wedges in small to medium sized venues, also worked great in a big hall.

We put vocals through them usually but in tiny venues we put the electric drum kit and bass through them too and they handle it all well as monitors

On occasion we've used them as a self standing pa no problems again

We also have the external cabinet which allows the full 120watts from one of these and this made a great simple pa set up with adequate power for a small venue / open mic night.

Solid and sound better than most of the plastic versions you can find.

A bit weighty would be my only comment but you only move them into the car, into the venue and back again...it's not like your moving them to your next gig on a pushbike or slinging them over your shoulder to walk 2 miles to your mates house???

Very happy purchase. The band have no complaints.

A pleasant surprise
Stygian Machine 1 09.01.2018
Honestly I didn't know what to expect from the Box MA120 MKII. My budget was tight and I really had to rely on the reviews of others buuuut....I got blown away when I heard it!
Honestly, I don't know if there are many other speakers out there at this price range that deliver that well. We wanted to use it in our home studio for rehearsals (metal music) only for vocals and the clarity it delivers was not expected by any of us when we found out the price. You can listen to all the depth of the voice and the basic e.q. it offers, can help you adjust it just the way you want it.
One of the best things this speaker has to offer is the VERY EASY access to controls that it features, since they are placed on the front so I don't have to guess and hope I turn the right knob in Breill system every time i need to do adjustments. Another thing that impressed me is the construction quality and the materials used. Honestly, the only thing I could ask more would be just a little bit more Wattage but that's just me.
I am not saying that this is the BEST speaker one can find. I am saying that this is one of the VERY BEST speakers in this price range.
Always consider the job you want it for, however excellent value for money.
P.S. Also works well when I tried to play my acoustic guitar in front of the mic I plugged in it and soundwise it delivered very warm and well. However that's why I'd wish for a little extra Watts.
