Not really for my taste
Wilson WIlsonson 30.12.2020
Put it on my main pedalboard paired with Jet City 100HDM amp and Jet City 24S+ cab

The good and at the same time the bad thing (depend on how you like your pedals) is that there are many configuration options with the voice + 4 controls.
For me it is a bad thing as I have not found a tone that I like.
If you like it simple, I recommend looking at another pedal.
Not to end the review on a bad note: the voice switch is really great if you want to switch between modern or vintage distortion - it really works and the difference is noticeable.

Dark Distortion for Hard Rock
attilacsaba 19.06.2020
Overall a good distortion pedal but on it's own mainly suited for hard rock style or crunch sounds.
But when used with the Mojo or other pedals and depending on the AMP can get a really good Metal sound as well! Also works good in the FX Loop which is where you notice improvement & differences with the Voice switch...
I think it could be better if it had a Mid EQ as well but as I noted if using with other pedals and/or a good AMP then it's perfect as is!

Good for begin

It's very well finished and useful distortion pedal. I'm using it in my pedalboard as a strongest drive and for last few years it was enough. In my opinion this pedal sounds a little bit vintage and there is too less compression in sound. With my Strat there it getting noisy and with les Paul I feel that I want more.
Nevertheless I think its really good comprehensive drive which can sound decently if you work on it.

I bought this a few months ago and I feel that it is well worth the price I got it for off of thomann which was ?45, I am glad I did not pay the rrp for this which is over ?100. There are a lot better distortion pedals around than this, the different voices it offers are a bit off a joke, there is very little in the difference between them, to my ears one voice has a very slightly richer low end. As for the build quality, while i love TC Electronics as they make some awesome products, I found the actual pedal on this getting stuck, sometimes it seems to take a lot of force to press it on in comparison to other pedals, and even in comparison to other TC pedals, this could just be a once of however. A positive however = there are some nice tones to be found in this pedal!

I picked this up at the same time as the mojo overdrive. I definitely prefer this distortion. I find it does a couple of tones fairly well. It's built very well, no doubt, like all tc electronic pedals. In terms if features, it has everything you REALLY need; and doesn't have an unnecessary boost feature like a lot of distortion and overdrive pedals. And though I have yet to try it, I would say the tone print function is useful.
For the rrp, there is better and more versatile pedals. However, at a sale or second hand price, thus could be a good purchase.

Not a Pedal For Me
Anonymous 22.08.2016
Now, I know there are probably alot of people who already disagree with me, but I didn't like this pedal. Yes, I played it on a weak Fender Mustang II amp, but it did nothing for me.

At low gain it seemed to do nothing but slightly boost what I was playing and at high gain it was too much for me. Using it along side my Mini-TubeScreamer, it seemed to hide behind the Screamers more stand out tone, no matter what way I used the pedal it just didn't work out for me. I guess I just don't like distortions, or whatever the case may be, but I do not like this pedal.

I liked it's EQ, a very neat feature, but the switch that toggled between three different effects modes was seemingly useless and it didn't offer a bold enough contrast to make me care.

The build quality is good, and I like the design of the pedal. There is literally nothing else to say about that.

I sold it to my friend and he seems happy enough with it, he plays metal and I used to but now, it's not my thing.

Muddy distortion
Anonymous 18.12.2016
Gear used:

PRS 7 string and Ibanez 6 string
ENGL amp

Well, this pedal is robust...well built. I have other tc electronic pedals so I was looking for an overdrive/light distortion. I saw many good reviews about this pedal which made me buy one.

When I plugged it in, I was let down with the muddy sound. High lead notes sing very nice but chord work is mission impossible since the sound is too muddy and not defined. The voice switch did not do any effect to the sound. Reducing the base through the control knob did not solve the problem. Had to send it back due to this reason as it was going to remain unused.

If you have a very trebly guitar and use it for high lead notes, this can work for you!
