Tama CB90R Rubber beater:,worth it if you need it.
Paul330 02.07.2013
I purchased two of these and although they are supposed to be for the Iron Cobra pedals I use these with an electronic mesh head kit TD-30 Roland set up. I use these rubber beaters because the feel & balance on them is good for me personally and because they are good to mesh heads in general. Mesh drum "skins" do not like felt (it tends to eat away at them generally) and these solve that problem for me very well. The beater is actually being utilized with direct drive double pedal (Yamaha) and it fits fine so you may be able to use it on other brands but they can vary so keep that in mind.

They perform well on my acoustic kit too, giving more punch than felt beaters do, but less attack/dynamic volume than wooden beaters so they are versatile-well worth the purchase if you need a beater or two. Well constructed, nicely packaged, and fabulous price as ever with Thomann. I recommend them, especially if you use hybrid or electronic set up's as they come into their own in these settings particularly. You might like them for a softer hit (as with any rubber beater) on cowbell foot set-ups?

TB
OK beater if you want some slap
Tommy B 23.03.2018
I bought this beater for a harder, phatter bass drum sound, which it did achieve. But after a couple of months I stopped using it, for a couple of reasons.
Firstly, when I locked the beater face at the desired angle it didn't lock solid enough and the beater face would start to tilt. Secondly, because the beater face is so flat you have to depress the pedal further than with most other beaters. I'm not a fan of this, so I recently bought a tama iron cobra power strike beater which suits my playing much better than the flatter faced beaters.

If you're looking for more punch
Defect 26.09.2017
Gives more attack at the cost of handling speed.

I bought a pair of these to give my legs a workout. Used with DW PDP Concept series double pedals, as the fit is standard.

Pros:
- Weighs more than regular felt-plastic beaters, giving more volume
- Adjustable beater angle
- (Personal opinion) Is a workout at high speeds compared to regular beaters

Cons:
- Rubber heats up at high speeds and wears out long time

You shouldn't use fabric bass drum patches, as they further increase the friction.

Perfect for playing fast.
ytman 23.01.2019
I mounted these onto my DW9000 double pedals and I personally have never been able to play that fast and consistant in my life. My 22 inch bassdrum head is pretty loose because of the sound I like and I struggled to play consistantly. As mentioned before, I have no issues with playing fast and consistantly anymore.

Not too great for high tempos,
Tom U. 05.01.2015
If you want the weight or feel of this beater but want to play at high tempos, I suggest getting the wood/plastic ones. I've found that, after over a year of usage in a death metal band, the beater faces are starting to melt - no, I'm not kidding!

The beaters give a great sound and they're a nice weight, though,

Great little beaters
Jellyfish 21.09.2013
I've used the Tama Iron Cobra pedals since I started drumming and have always used the felt heads. They're soft but dense and don't get mis-shaped over long periods. I recently, however, purchased a practice bass drum pad and thought I'd order these along with it, to test out how good the rubber is compared.

As you might imagine, the heads are extremely solid and a lot more dense than the felt ones. If you've ever had problems with the actual heads turning upwards as well, you don't have to worry about this with the newer revisions of them (like these). After trying them out, I was extremely pleased with them. They bounce nicely and don't feel a lot different, but have a nice definite attack on them.
