Use for live vocals through a guitar pedal chain!
Anonymous 18.03.2017
So I had been playing with intense vocal effects like fuzz and heavy reverb on Logic and Ableton for a little while and had pretty much nailed the sound I wanted however when it came to performing live I had to think of a slightly different set up.

When it came to preparing for live shows I set out to try and emulate the sound I had of my demo's as closely as possible, so, I bought a bunch of guitar pedals and plugged my SM57 straight into them and went from the pedals straight into the desk or p.a.....This I learned was a mistake.
Because microphones and guitars are of different impedances I would always get either a very low volume vocal, nothing like my desired sound or an intense unwanted feedback..
This Shure A85F paired with a Palmer PAN 01 fixed all my problems.

Mic> ShureA85F> pedals> D.I> desk.
Levels out all weird conversions I don't understand and makes vocals "musical" again.
No feedback. Correct vocal volume level.
Perfect.

Solid design. Shouldn't break anytime soon.

Mic volume booster +24db
Anarkros 06.01.2018
Great device, just plug & play, no batteries needed, just add it between mic & I mic input to boost volume (absolute godsend with a Traktor S5 .. now mic works flawlessly). Only downside, no instructions, nothing, not even a piece of paper with a diagram.. but it?s easy to use & can be left & forgotten. Great piece of Kit, Native Instruments should bundle this with the S4 / S5, now people can finally hear the mic!,

p
does the job - real state on board may be an issue
playingear 08.03.2019
i use this to mic a saxophone and use guitar pedals with it. i am also using a guitar amp at the moment but if i were going into a PA i believe I would need to "re-convert" into a balanced line - PS: some amps do have a Direct OUT option that is also balanced

pros
does the job, seem to "boost/transform" the signal from the mic allowing me to truly hear the saxophone with effects. i am not noticing much of a change regarding noise.

cons:
size - if this was going into a pedal board, there may need to be rearranging. it is long and thick so that in some pedals. straight jacks fit next to it, but not flat ones (on most of my pedals)

built:
it seems sturdy but time will time if it will last rehearsals and gigs

Perfect for connecting your mic to a guitar pedal. Just remember to connect the pedal with a passive DI like palmer PAN 01 and then to the mixer.

Perfect for Vocals into pedalboard
SJS 14.02.2021
After hearing and seeing some artists that use guitar pedals with a regular microphone, i tried to emulate that technique without getting the same results. With some research i found out this "secret weapon" - a passive transformer that converts the microphone from low to high impedance - or instrument level! What a godsend, works perfectly with my SM57 for my intended use. Can be used in reverse.

Pros: completely passive, facilitates the use of your voice into pedals such as Line 6 DL4 and others.

Cons: A little bulky if you have limited space in your pedalboard.
Cons: none

Awesome
jimmy floyd 12.11.2024
This device has been an incredible discovery for my recording setup. The build quality is excellent and the rear arrows clearly indicate the XLR input and HI-Z jack output. I've used it to connect my microphone directly to the LEFT channel of my HELIX stomp with a single XLR cable and the result is amazing. The volume boost is significant, but the real advantage is that it doesn't increase background noise and doesn't alter frequencies

This saved my life
Monolougue 10.06.2018
IT saved my life wanting to connect my microphone to my pedals for live performances, and saved me a lot of money buying amplifier or impedance match. It brings the low impedance signal of a mic and match it with the signal of a pedal with 24+ gain. Still clear, no noise whatsoever.
Definitely recommend them.

I use the transformer with a vocal dynamic mic to be able to use my guitar pedals to process my voice. It works perfectly.

Great for using guitar pedals for Vocal
NikolaTesla 31.10.2019
I use this adapter to connect Shure Sm58 microphone to via TC Electronic HALL OF FAME REVERB pedal to the PA. Being able to control the reverb of the vocals from stage is priceless.
I think it also would be perfect for DJs for similar use.
