Great pickup, but there's one detail I wish I knew before I bought it. The coil split is not done the traditional way, i.e. one of the two magnet bars stretching across all 6 strings. The SVR has a half-split system, meaning that once you split it, you only get *three* strings per split, which presents two challenges: 1. to make sure you wire them so as to "keep" only the 3 strings you want (in my case it was pure luck because I "kept" the high strings), and 2. to combine the split sound with another pickup that matches its output and sounds pleasing enough to your ear. The SVR is made to be paired with another SVR so that when you split them you can get the high strings from one pickup and the low strings from another -- I wish this info was more visible on the SD website. I found it on a SD forum, and obviously after I installed mine. That being said, both pickup sounds are superb. The full sound is close enough to a humbucker and breaks up beautifully, while the single sound is clean and sparkly.
