Best neck pickup I have in any guitar.
NH-69 22.03.2021
I replaced a Duncan design pickup with the SH2N. It made a huge improvement in sound and the tone is so more versatile and fits all styles I play. Some people have described this as more of a Single coil sounding pickup. That is to some extent true when rolling of the volume on the guitar. At full volume it is just a very good sounding neck humbucker pickup. Slight less bass and the pickup would have been perfect. Still the best neck pickup I have ever used.

Strictly jazz.
Peter R. 438 29.11.2015
A very jazz sound, but clean & light (depending your amp settings).

I split this p'up with a push/pull for a more clean chording & "natural as can be" sound. I am in between acoustic & electric so the transposition between is difficult, but this p'up is helping.

An hours licks & chording last night has helped me realize this p'ups potential, s'pose any splitable p'up would help, or even a single coil guitar like a telecaster, but I need a big bodied guitar like this hollow body Hofner for the comfort of sitting down to perform.

On the "tech" side, I don't know which p'up should be the single coil when I pull my vol knob. The one with screws in or the one w'out? I followed the SD instructions for the wiring and ended up on the p'up w'out the screws in.

Great universal sound

I used this pickup together with SD Pearly Gates and it works flawlessly. If wired as a single coil, it sounds like a strat, if in humbucker mode, with the tone dialed down, provides a warm jazzy tone.

This is a good pickup! Maybe not for all though

I personally love it. I think it is very versatile and sounds great but i do not think that resembles much a PAF as some describe it to sometimes. this is its own beautiful thing!

Do not let the name fool you.

If your looking to get definition (mainly highs) out of your neck pickup, this pickup is for you. Split coil tones are very strat like. If your looking for extremley smooth lead tones you may want to look somewhere else.

B
Amazing neck pickup
Belgian 17.09.2018
I installed this pickup in my Mexican blacktop telecaster
The pickup is very versatile and sounds very crisp.
Great sound all over the spectrum, especially for cleans, but it can more than hold its own with any amount of gain, where it remains very clear sounding and very articulate. The pickup sounds very good with a coil split, very authentic sounding
Pros:
very versatile
great cleans
very clear under gain
sounds great split
Cons:
none

The Humbucker
Paul6504 18.05.2015
Great neck position humbucker, have it fitted to a homebuild duel humbucker strat with a Seymour Duncan bridge pickup I previousley had fitted to a Les Paul, easy to fit and the coil tap option is a great bonus

Pickups replacment

Now the sound of the ES-335 has come to life. I have installed Seymour Duncan SH-1B4C BLK on bridge and Seymour Duncan SH2N-4C BLK on neck. it gave a warm and singing sound, with much more presence and clarity. I highly recommend these pickups to those who love a jazzy, thick, deep, warm and lasting sound.
