wonderfull banjo
Conor D. 24.01.2014
i have been playing banjo for several years, and needed to purchase a decent instrument for live performance.

This banjo had lots of great reviews, and completely lived up to everything i have heard.

The Banjo does not come set up, as the bridge would probably break in transit, as it is not fixed, but this is fine as a) most luthiers can do this very easily, and b) the pickup i bought for the banjo was a bridge pickup anyway, so i would have to replace it.

The strings that come on the banjo are not too bad either, though i did choose to replace them after a few weeks with a high quality pack, i gigged with the original strings on at first, and they sounded fine in small venues.

The best feature for me, is that the banjo holds tuning quite well.
Although all banjos are sensitive to heat and cold, which affects the tuning, as the bridge floats on the drum head, once you leave the banjo open (i.e out of its case) in room temperature, an hour or two before performing, the tuners are great quality and it holds a great tune, though i find as the venue flll's up, and gets warmer, you would want to tune up every two to three songs.

Aesthetically it looks great too!

K
Very nice old time banjo
Kevinske 05.04.2022
Well constructed and finished, no issues at all. Even for an open back banjo it has bags of projection, I sometimes stick a rolled up teashirt in the pot so my wife doesn't divorce me! This played nicely right out of the box once I had set up the bridge and adjusted the skin with a fraction more tension, which is not hard to do, your supplied with a wrench. Have had enormous amount of pleasure and fun learning clawhammer on this banjo, would definitely recommend for any player level.

5 Stars all round
Old Jock, old timing 30.06.2023
First class service from the staff at Thomann's, with the info and quick delivery...Many thanks. The banjo is a dream to play, if 'old timing' music is your style this banjo must be on your list to try. A well made solid banjo nothing fancy , sounds great with medium gauge steel strings which I prefer, as for the price, great value, can't go wrong.

Beautiful
Briano 15.07.2024
I bought this banjo two years after beginning to learn 5 string banjo.

After 2 years practice on the harley benton 5 string (which is a great beginner banjo) I was looking for on open back banjo with an old time look and sound, with a good quality build. Aestheticly this banjo appealed to me the most. The modern set up, with the double action truss rod really could have sealed the deal for me. But what did finally made me decide to buy this banjo was the price. You get a lot for the price. When I recieved it, I was shocked at the build quality. All the hardware is strong and flawless. The satin finish feels and looks great too. Set up with nice strings and playable straight out of the box. I couldn't put it down, for days. The songs and excersise I had been practicing sounded better too.

I have many instruments, this is definately amongst the finest.
