For the money, it will do the job

I'll keep this quick. I was hoping to solve my lack of a spruce mahogany guitar for cheap, but I have played to many nice Yamahas and Furch guitars to really go to a guitar on this playing field... maybe I got unlucky, mine was definitely nice sounding, but I just don't feel like it has an amazing sustain out of box, or that it plays or responds as well as I'd like. It'd probably be improved greatly by setup and I didn't have mine set up... as I am also going by sound tone and I can just tell this is not the one for me.

I got both this and the adirondack offering from RK. Both would suit many different guitarists needs just not me. I like the smoothness of Sitka, that I know now, but this guitar just doesn't quite deliver what I want and I am willing to pay more to get it. I am looking into the Yamaha FG3 as the contender.

Don't get me wrong for the money you should give this guitar a try. This is the cheapest all solid guitar I'm aware of other than Harley Benton...I just feel like for me it's worth saving more money to get something special.

Thanks Thomann for letting me buy and try these guitars!

No regrets !

I bought this guitar based on some online reviews I saw and I think they captured the essence of this guitar: it’s a lightweight, all solid wood dreadnought with a very nice, to my ears, woody vintage tone. I had been playing smaller body guitars before I got this one. This larger body guitar made me appreciate what these larger guitars have to offer and I purchased a new Gibson J-45 standard about three months later. I still give the Recording King a fair amount of playing time. It weighs less which I like but I also like its tone, dry and woody. I wish it had a slightly wider nut but that’s just my taste. All in all, I recommend this model.
