Makes travelling with my bass much easier and less stressful
Jack G 12.04.2020
It's been really helpful for me when I travel around London on foot and on the train with my bass and has made things a lot easier than if I had my old endpin wheel.

Takes a while to get used to the steering technique and stay in a straight line. Generally, you pivot with your body to control the direction but I tend to use my arm around the bass' neck to pull it and give me more control because sometimes it veers off.

This buggie has plastic wheels and a lot of my friends have the same buggies but with rubber wheels, which I think are quieter and might last longer than plastic.

Also, if your endpin is too small or your case is very thick and covers most of your endpin up the buggie might fall off a lot because it doesn't have much to hold onto. On a few occasions, I have gone over bumps in the pavement and it has fallen off.

This buggie is not perfect and for what it is I think it is quite expensive, however at the moment I think it's the best option us bass player have for travelling.

Great product. Well made and does the job. Would prefer it was slightly more reasonably priced but it’s already made a huge difference in transporting my bass around town.

Pretty Good Not Perfect

I live on a hill in a large city and do not drive, so hitherto taking my DB out has been fraught with issues. The Double Bass Buggie - as recommended by my DB teacher - makes it easy to manoeuvre my instrument along typical city pavements, on and off buses and such, and to gigs / jam sessions / lessons / rehearsals etc.

It's easy to take on and off once you know how, but mine came with absolutely no documentation whatsoever and I had to first look up the manufacturer's website for instructions. Turns out that it's not quite as easy to steer the buggie-enabled instrument as I'd hoped, and I've found it this does sometimes (not always) veer constantly to one side when in use. That said, it's a great deal easier to transport the instrument than it was before I got the buggie, and it's also possible - not having had it that long - that I am not consistently attaching the thing correctly. The documentation makes no mention of this issue; presumably, DB players are expected to work out for themselves how to ensure stable steering.

Life is much better than before, no doubt; there is also room for improvement in the documentation and consistent steering stability of the product. Hence four, not five stars.

Excelent and practical

Very useful for short and long travels.
Keeps your body healthy and ready for playing instead of having to carry the double bass on your shoulders or even use the wheels that tear down your case.

Preferable to a single wheel
Smooooth 03.03.2018
For those of us in possession of basses without a removable endpin, this 'buggy' is a lifesaver. Well, perhaps not anything quite so superlative, but if one's livelihood depends on being able to transport a double bass then I suppose it's not such an outlandish claim. When properly fitted the Bass Buggy can be trusted to safely and securely enable transit of one's instrument, attaching to the endpin with a large plastic hoop and firmly but not too tightly around the neck heel with bungee straps. When this is done correctly the bass should be able to 'stand' resting at a 30-ish degree angle on both the endpin and the wheels, making careful trips on trains and buses much easier than with an endpin-wheel fitted bass. All that prevents this product receiving five stars is the fact that the necessary protective 'cushion' is sold seperately!

Great for city travel
Cip 07.11.2017
This is my second one in 3 years hence not 5 stars, as the old one started to fall apart as dirt got into the bearings and slowly ceased it up.

Living in London it?s ideal for tube travel, can walk it on and off escalators easily. Most other bassistis in London use thease.

S
Upright bass buggie
Stiba 08.10.2019
Fairly simple to use, videoes availible on YouTube. Works as intended, however might requier a small cushin in-between the bass and the buggie to make it more stable. Tends to wobble a little. Especially with a bag.

This product is an amost absolute must for any bassist without a car or if you travel on the buss/subway.

Anything to make my life a little easier ...
bassbabi 16.08.2019
Great bass buggy - attaches to case easily, moves over a variety of surfaces due to the large wheels. I have recommended these to a number of my pupils, one of whom is 82 and was finding his bass too heavy to carry - this has virtually saved his playing. A bit pricey, but it looks like it will last a long time.
