Three in one

With its Spark series, the American company Positive Grid has broken new ground with the concept of a "smart amp". More than just a buzzword, the Positive Grid Spark GO lives up to its "smart" moniker by not only combining an amplifier, USB audio interface, and Bluetooth speaker in one ultra-compact device, but also by offering a whole suite of intelligent control options via the free Spark App. The integrated USB-C rechargeable battery with up to eight hours of life means that the Spark GO is the perfect on-the-go companion for every occasion, and the amp is also a breeze to operate. With voice command functionality via the Spark App, the user can tell it to stream a Rock song or a Blues backing track, or even ask for a virtual band to accompany a performance. The app also provides access to a whole host of sound presets, an Auto Chords function, and much more. With the Spark GO, Positive Grid proves that smart doesn't have to mean expensive.

Feature-packed simplicity

Although the Positive Grid Spark GO BK has a wealth of features, it could not be more intuitive. The front panel features a 6.35mm jack input for the instrument, separate volume controls for the instrument and for music playback, a button for toggling between the amp's four presets, and finally a headphone output. Powered by a 5W class D power stage, the Spark GO features a 2" custom speaker. Those looking to tap into the full potential of the Spark GO can access 33 amp models and 43 effects via the Spark App, where they can also explore and download thousands of additional tones created by others on the ToneCloud platform. Additionally, the Spark GO can be connected to a computer via USB to start recording to any DAW software, and thanks to its Bluetooth functionality, the amp also serves as a fantastic-sounding portable speaker.

Connections on the Positive Grid Spark GO

The all-in-one amp

The Positive Grid Spark GO BK's diminutive dimensions and light weight, together with its integrated rechargeable battery, make it ideally suited to on-the-go use. Positive Grid's Spark App and the deep integration it offers between a smartphone and the Spark GO amp is at the core of what makes this offering so unique. Those open to embracing the newest innovations will quickly discover the space-saving benefits of this three-in-one solution and the advantages of the cutting-edge technologies it employs when it comes to practising and learning. With the Spark App, users can bring a whole virtual band into their living room. What is more, the extensive YouTube song library, which includes real-time chord charts and fingering diagrams, makes the Spark GO an invaluable companion for anyone who is learning to play.

About Positive Grid

Positive Grid was founded in the Californian city of San Diego in 2013, and from the very beginning the company’s mission statement was to bridge the gap between mobile technologies such as smartphones, as well as the potential offered by the digital world, and the analogue feel of guitar and bass equipment. The company’s pursuit of this goal has produced a range of exciting products, the most significant of which is undoubtedly the award-winning BIAS FX 2 amp and effects modelling software platform. With its “Spark Amp” series, Positive Grid has combined the limitless possibilities that the digital world provides with conventional guitar and bass amplifiers. Positive Grid’s spirit of innovation and the speed with which new developments are produced is a clear indication of what this still relatively young company has in store for the future.

The next step

The Positive Grid Spark lineup does not end with the GO amplifier and the Spark App: The Spark GO is even easier to operate with the optional Spark Control, a wireless footswitch that is connected to the Positive Grid Spark GO BK via Bluetooth and can be used to select between the amp's four presets. The four switches on the Spark Control can also be programmed with customised functions, for example to toggle between different effects or to start and stop backing tracks. For those who want to take the Spark GO around with them, Positive Grid also offers a matching carrying case that featues a robust outer shell and a padded interior, so the diminutive amp is properly protected at all times.

Compact Excellence: A Micro Amp that Surpasses Expectations
Alienproject 02.02.2024
In the realm of ultra-portable guitar amps, this product stands out as a testament to exceptional design and functionality. Despite its compact size, the sound quality is remarkably good, providing a satisfying experience for practicing sessions. The accompanying app is a highlight, boasting a well-thought-out design that enhances the overall user experience.

One particularly impressive feature is the amp's volume, which proves to be more than adequate for effective practice sessions. The convenience of the app further extends to the ease with which presets can be searched, simplifying the user's journey to find the perfect sound.

However, a minor inconvenience surfaces in the absence of a feature to sort presets based on their like counts after a search. While this may not be a deal-breaker, it is a noteworthy point for those who value quick and efficient preset navigation.

In conclusion, if you seek a micro amp that defies its size with excellent sound quality, convenient app functionality, and ample volume for practice, this product is a standout choice. The only minor drawback lies in the inability to sort presets by popularity, but overall, it remains a top-tier option for musicians on the go.

s
Amazing little amp. Great for a practice in a small room.
silencio 10.12.2023
Good quality material, feels sturdy. Very versatile because of its small size, fits into most of guitar cases. battery powered. Connects to a phone/computer with bluetooth. Lots of tones. Very easy and intuitive to use. Ability to plug in the headphones, and to store presets.
Of course, it will not sound like a big, expensive amp. But for a practice in a small room, outdoors its a great choice. Just what i needed. A small companion. I tend to practice at home at the speaking volume anyway, and for that this amp does exactly that. The amp probably is designed for more distorted sounds, but I play mostly clean guitar and its really good. Just have to spend some time dialing in the tone that you want, and there are endless possibilities regarding that.
I use it at mid-to-low volume, meaning - never put it at 100% volume. And its just for practice ant speaking volume. If you need the sound to fill the room, probably look for another alternative, or get a bigger one. This tiny amp is not meant to be tortured.

Solid gold software, stone age controls, garbage reliability
AVeryDisappointedTim 11.07.2024
It all started as good as the reviews I saw before buying it. Top notch materials, nice touch, very beautiful, even the packaging is a pleasure for the senses. Creative intro text printed inside the box, a little humor, I loved every bit of it. The only downside... The on/off button and the Bluetooth pairing button are the same actual button, to turning it on/of and pairing it, like switching it from Amp to Bluetooth speaker after hanging my guitar on its stand when I stopped playing, is confusing and an absolute pain in the ***, resulting in disconnecting the speaker from the app etc.

But if that was all, I'd still be a happy customer. Sadly, after little under 10 hours of playing, I wanted to switch to Bluetooth after playing, the sound died, my phone music player paused (what I assumed happened becaus of losing connection with the speaker). However, there was no way of bringing the Amp to life. Not by resetting it, not by force shutting it down, not by factory resetting it, not by leaving it charging for hours at a time with the original charging cable.

Long story short: new Spark Go (less then 10 hours of playing) dies out of nowhere, no solution to be found. 130 euro down the drain

T
Surprisingly good
TMOG 19.03.2024
Considering the small size, the sound is surprisingly good. The app is really easy to use and one can quickly find or make just the right sound. I use it a lot with earphones, then the sound is just as good and probably better than my full sized amp.
