best value / quality combination i have used

These strings let you hear how the violin sounds. They do not impose a sound of their own (unlike most synthetic, aluminium wound strings and cheap strings in general). If the violin has a good bass, a lively mid or a sweet treble you will hear it with these strings. Conversely, if the violin has a weak bass, a dull mid or a tinny treble you will hear that too. If a poor sound is evident you will know to adjust, or have the violin adjusted for better sound (bridge, sound post). These strings give an excellent sound with a well adjusted, quality violin. They are also slim, do not require heavy finger pressure and are therefor kind to the fingers
Highly recommended

D
Chromecor pirrastro - excellent deal
Davy1138 18.08.2014
I've used these strings for gigs and recording for years. They not only give a good warm sound accousticaly but also they seem to also manage that warm tone even with a fishman pickup . Most strings give a saxophone- like tone when you start wiring them up into your PA - these still end up sounding like a violin !
They are long lasting as well , I can get up to a year out them usually, and have never noticed a fall off in sound over time. The first indication is usually that the A string windings start to go up at the nut. On occasions when stuck I've stuck old strings back on the spare fiddle and they still sound ok.
They are half the usual price at Thomann just now - At other sources they are about 35 -45 pounds a set - and are on offer from Thomann at 26 euros (August 2014. ) -

K
Last long and nice strings
Kiumars 10.08.2024
With increasing price of high end synthetic core strings which last for 3 months or less. I found using this reliable strings more logical and economical. Recently bought Thomastik blue Infield, D and G strings snap less than 1 month. Previously bought Larsen orginal which again snapped on my other violin. I don't care if they are not as good as evah pirazzi as they last way more and cost way less, it means they are more practical , although I think the sound is not that different that make me willing to pay a lot of money for short time.

Very responsive and durable
Saeid 06.05.2019
I have tried many strings (synthetic and gut) like Pirazzi, Dominant, Olive, Eudoxa, tonica ...you name it...but for "MY VIOLIN" the best strings s far have been Chromcore! My violin is much more responsive with these strings and sings much better! I really love it! The only downside is the E-String...I am not happy with it and changed that with Kaplan non-whisle and it maches the set very good! I am happy with this setup :)

Very good strings

I am not a musician, but these strings didn't break after a year of intense use (3 hours per day, every day) and my doughter's teacher saying compliments to their sound quite often.

H
A great quality steel core string
Hermes 26.07.2014
If you are interested in quality steel core strings and you have not tried Pirastro Chromcor, then you should

They are even, relatively rich and a little warmer than most steel core strings. They are stable in terms of pitch and tuning, and seem to last for a really long time

They are accompanied by special plastic rings in all four strings, to protect your bridge.

In my experience they work best with dark and sticky rosins, such as the pirastro schwarz or the hidersine 6v

They are relatively loud

Considering all these, they could be great for modern music genres, country, blues, rock, jazz and electric instruments as well. Moreover, they could make a student instrument sound really lively and comfortable for beginners who cannot mess with tuning issues

Great strings

had been using them for a very long time, they are very nice in terms of playability and they feel soft to play.
they are very valuable comparing their price, cheap strings doesn't mean cheap sounding, those chromcor strings last long and they sound really well.
