What should I expect from a good double bass bow?

1. Expect rapid, nimble response.
2. Seek balanced weight distribution.
3. Opt for a stick with outstanding flexibility.
4. The bow shouldn't sway to the left or right when applying pressure to the strings. The angular octagonal stick prevents this effect. However, a round stick that naturally follows the guiding line is usually a good sign.
5. Fancy gold, silver, or mother-of-pearl? They dazzle but might not tune up the sound—just the price.
