Small footprint, sturdy stand
Adrian866 15.05.2018
I use two of these for drum overhead mics, and I really like the small footprint and the weighty round base (around 6kgs). I have these at maximum vertical extension and the boom almost fully extended, and with small SDC mics (such as Rode M5, NT5, etc), no stability problems whatsoever. I would also be happy using these with heavier mics, though I would probably add a counterweight sandbag to the boom arm, or place over the base to ensure no toppling over.

In terms of build quality, typical K&M quality, which I find to be good, although I have marked down the "handling" rating by one star for three reasons:
1. The twist-lock on the vertical pole extension can get jammed if over-tightened. I did this once, by accident, and it took a bit of effort to undo it.
2. I'm not a great fan of the lock used for setting the angle of the boom. Looks cheap and tacky, though it does work.
3. I would be happier if there was a locknut to help keep the bottom pole tight on the round base. I found, when moving the stand around the studio, the base could start to come loose. It won't fall off (there are plenty of threads), but the overall stability is reduced if the pole isn't tightened firmly into the base.

Finally, a really minor niggle, I managed to break one of the cable clips. They are a fairly hard, brittle plastic, so take care when removing them or clipping them back onto the poles.

Despite those apparently negative comments, the stand does exactly what I need it to do, works as intended, and is decent quality for the price. I would buy again if I needed to replace it.

D
Very sturdy
Dub77 06.03.2022
I bought this mic stand as i wanted a good solid stand as an upgrade from my cheap €25 one.
This stand is overall impressive. Its very sturdy. Its heavy enough that it wont get knocked over. It has a round base, which is not only sturdy but takes up noticeably less precious stage space as the three legged type.
There are two draw backs however.. 1, the main stand screws into the bass, its solid, but tends to unscrew as you move the stand at all.. and feels very distracting and annoying.
2.. the boom arm is quite narrow and held in place with a fairly weak thumb screw, this causes your mic clamp to suddenly swivel loose and turns the mic upside down at random moments. You can then tighten the thumb screw as tight as possible but it still loses grip.. this happened from very first use! the mic i was using was a shure beta 57, so not overly or unusually heavy.

Pros.. takes up minimal space, and is sturdy 95% of the time

Cons.. thumb screw on boom arm feels / is weak. And main stand unscrews from base far too easily.

Over all though, its a good stand, definitely an upgrade in terms of weight, but, i expected better from the price point.

A
Sturdy Stand with Small Footprint
Anonymous 26.01.2017
Excellent functioning microphone stand, easy to set up and adjust. Extremely stable stand.

The best part about this stand is the small footprint on stage, there are no tripod legs in the way! If you find yourself playing in cramped spaces this stand makes an immediate difference. The only downside is the weight of the round base at 6 kilos which if you are gigging has to be hauled around.

Highly recommended product, am going to get a second one.

S
