Like many of us who were super curious about this replica of the famous 1176 I went ahead and risk purchase it since it was pretty cheap. Klark Teknik as much as you know is now pretty much Behringer so I was pretty apprehensive since i'm not a fan of what they make and mostly how they operate (who remembers the lawsuit against online opinions?) so lets get to the unit:
Its mainly metal, which is good, the controls are pretty slick and has a nice smooth feel to it. I find it easy to tune the settings I want, although the buttons are a bit honky but nothing deal breaker.
So on the compression/sound aspect of it, its decent... It does compress alright, the attack is fast like the original unit but not as fast to my ears and the release seems a bit slower too. As for the sound of it, it's pretty sterile, there's nothing in here that recreates that density well known of the 1176 and the grit at higher compression rates is not as pleasant as the UA one.
So bottom line: It kinda behaves like an 1176 but without its characteristic sound. I don't find myself using that much, especially if I want to squash something
I must add that, like a true Behringer unit, it already broke me once but Thomann, being the champs they are, were awesome in sending a replacement.
