Bridge pins
When I put this bridge pins on my Martin d18, I immediately hear the difference in tone. The tone is focused in mid-range and it has more sustain, but it can lose a little bass frequency. It depends on the guitar probably.

Into a Martin DX1 spruce top
THese really brought the definition and sustain up a level for this guitar.
Attack and clarity seemed to be improved and they quickly became a essential part of that guitar.
Pros: cheap and easy to install
cons: if they break you might have to buy a whole pack or they could get stolen if someone realises how good they are.

Pricey, but way better than plastic
That might be a Captain's Obvious hint, but these bridge pins are much better than plastic pins and can easily compete with ebony.
Also what I notice is that these TUSQ bridge pins seem to be of a better quality than the standard ones that came with my Martin dreadnought guitar.
