Gibraltar SC-DC Hi-Hat Drop Clutch
While palying double bass, sometimes you just want silent and crisp sounding hats. This Gibraltar product is perfect in these situations.
First of all. Clutch lever position. It's sticking out to the side. So it means that you do not need to do extra moves ( for example when clutch lever is in up position), you do not need to change the trajectory of your drum stick.
Material - sturdy metal. It should last for a long time.
One slightly bad thing. The spring inside the mechanism is too tight. Sometimes you need to hit harder to make it drop the cymbal.
In my personal opinion - 9/10
Really does it's job.

Improves with use!
Great product - usual Gibraltar quality.
A bit 'sticky' at first, so needed a good wack... Loosening up nicely after a couple of weeks use.
Always re-engages perfectly.

Useful
This is a great little device from gibraltar. Very easy to use and adjust, makes playing closed hi hat and using a double bass drum pedal a dream by just tapping the top lever them by just stepping on the hi hat pedal resumes to normal play. A definite buy for the double bass drummer

Does the job but...
It works perfectly fine as long as you hit the hats softly once you've released the drop clutch.
If you hit the hi hats too hard, the lower part holding the hats will reattach to the top.
Also, the rubber bar that you hit could do with being longer as well, as you have to be quite precise to engage it.

A Solid Drop Clutch
As a drummer of nearly 20 years, I've been looking to broaden my horizons as far as my playing style is concerned and I was looking for a way to have a closed hihat whilst playing double bass. Getting a drop clutch is obviously the cheapest, most efficient option, so I decided to go for this Gibraltar model, because I've always trusted the sturdiness of the brand.
My trust was not misplaced. This clutch is everything you'd ever need in a drop clutch and it can definitely take a beating. I've used this on my practice kit for quite a while now and the drop function is easily activated with a stick-hit or with your hand. So far it's never come lose from playing and I've really hammered on my hats.
One of my main concerns with having a drop clutch was that it would come free on its own and I wouldn't be able to latch it back in during play. So far this has held strong and I've only had to adjust my hihat stand once to accommodate it slightly better.
Overall I'd give it a 9 out of 10. Good functionality, solid build, and great durability.

Nice thing
I already have Pearl drop clutch, but this one is more comfortable, but pearl's have more durable rubber rings.

Hi-Hat drop clutch
The GIBRALTAR SC-DC HI-HAT DROP CLUTCH is an important add-on for my Gibraltar Hi-hat Stand to be able to play double Bassdrum with a closed Hi-Hat. The workmanship is typically Gibraltar: Great!
With the rubber surface strikes on the metal tool are avoided. (You could Brusie your Hand or your wrist)
n the Beginning it´s a little bit stiff, but after i´ve engaged the mechanism 3-5 times manually it´s working really great now.
I´ll buy a second one for my Set in the rehearsel room. (i´m playing a Gibraltar Hi-hat Stand over there, too.
I don´t know if the Drop clutch fits to stands of other Brands, but if you´re playing a Gibraltar Hi-Hat and a double Pedal: Here is it! (it´y not even much more expensive than a normal Clutch
