6 Years On, Going Strong
Artro Vannus 25.09.2017
This trooper of a chair has been carrying the weight of my fat arse (which is getting fatter as the years go on) for 6 years on my home kit. I bought this throne as I had damaged nerves in my neck and my cheap starter throne was exacerbating this problem.

Well, as well as reversing my back and neck pain, playing drums actually became therapeutic for it when I ordered this chair. I sit down, play, and the back rest cushions my lumbers and after a 20-30 minute session (with stretches before hand) my back feels like I've just completed Yoga! Amazing!
A slight drawback is lack of adjustability of the rest on the throne, wish it could come a tiny bit more forward, but that's only a minor complaint. Also it is quite heavy so it doesn't really suit to be transporting to gigs in your mums hatchback, other than that I'm very happy with the 9608MB!

We
Gibralter 9608MB Drum Throne
Wottzittduu eh?? 22.11.2020
I purchased this drum throne in May of 2020, to compliment a drum set that a relation of mine had recieved as a present. He got the drum kit but didn't get a throne to go with it. As any drummer will tell you, not having the correct seat will make long band sessions/gigs very uncomfortable.
I chose this drum throne as it has a back support which is crucial, when you consider what a physically demanding job that the drummer does. Drummers need good tools just like any good tradesperson. Gibraltar has a fine reputation for manufacturing top notch and reasonably affordable drum accessories.
I had reason recently to borrow this throne to do a session for a friend and I enjoyed being behind the kit again and finishing the session without any back pain or strain. I Highly highly recommend this model. Gibraltar never dissappoints.

S
Perfect for the back, easy to adjust
Simon.G. 02.04.2020
Having back problems, I need to rest my back between songs and the Gibraltar 9608MB Drum throne really helps here!
Comfortable, solid and easy to use, to me it's worth putting the price!
I used to play on crappy stools or stools that were wearing out after a few years. I have this one for 2 years already and I see no sign of use so far.

B
Compact studio chair
Blickfanger 26.11.2014
I don't use this throne for drumming, but as an all-purpose studio chair. It has a small footprint and breaks down compactly if needed. The foot is super sturdy and well made. Quite heavy, but that also gives a sense of secure sitting.

The seat is OK, but not as refined as the seat of the dome stool (Gibraltar 9608D), which I also have. The cloth is a little more "sandpapery" than the dome's cloth, which has a very nice feel to it. But it is by far not as "sharp" as the velvet used by Tama. The metal support plate of the 9608MB is a little more crude in finishing quality than the very nice support cross underneath the dome seat of the 9608D. The shape of the saddle seat is suitable for all-purpose sitting and at the same time is rather compact, especially compared to normal seats. So when space is limited in your studio room (or control room) this one will be a good model to consider.

The back rest is adjustable up and down and back and forth. I wish it could be moved a little more forward (and as a result less far backwards), but the range of adjustment seems to be chosen for people with a fat arse. Still, to lean back the backrest is pretty OK.

Very important to me is that a seat does not make any noises when moving your weight on it (for recording purposes). Since all adjustments can be firmly fixed this chair does not give a squeek.
