Focusrite Scarlett 4i4 3rd Gen

When unpacking this deal, be sure to install Scrlett first. Then you will find an ableton part. Click on that and you will find the code you need to activate ableton later on. Ableton says the code is "in the box" but it isnt. Trying to find it via Abletons instructions will land you in an afternoon of computer hell. Scarlett is not indicated in Ableton website as a product they partner with. Codes, serial numbers it is all confusing.

Of course you need to comply with their 20 page terms of use. Also, as aEuropean, you will be asked to comply with US law, which is bizarre.Us privacy laws are much less strict. They will know how you tie your shoelaces. Else you cant register it and it will be useless.
Arent there laws against that?

I havent tried the thing yet. 13 1 star reviews on over 500 reviews is not too bad. I hope I´m not one of the unlucky ones.

I'm a beginner in the production industry and this was my first audio interface. It is an amazing product, especially for its price. I am really happy with its results. But very disappointed with Thomann's customer service and will think twice before buying from Thomann. Here's the reason why:

After a few months, the interface stop working. I Contacted Thomann and after 4 days they answered. In the meantime, I talked with Focusrite maybe it was a problem with the software, or maybe I was doing something wrong and told me that it was definitely a hardware fault and that I was entitled to a replacement. Thomann told me to send it back and that it might take 3-4 weeks to arrive and check it out. I had no problem sending it but I couldn't stay 4 weeks ( and who knows how many more) without doing any assignments and also had work to do. I contacted Focusrite again they answered in a few hours and told them about the situation with Thomann. They told me to send it to them and as soon as DHL receives the interface they send me a new interface. They paid for everything, shipping and also customs fees. A few days later I received a new interface.

At first this device seemed ok - it plays back music with little noise on my monitors, and records the microphone in acceptable quality. The only drawback was that I found it very hard to unplug XLR inputs, but maybe they would loosen up in time.

However, the device completely fails on the instrument inputs - they simply cannot be used at all without the Focusrite software - and the software is awful, requires registration, and admin permissions.

Since I also couldn't get the headphone output to work, I had to send my unit back. I will replace it with a preamp that has hardware buttons.
