Simple and ideal
Zacharie 31.05.2019
I use a single ply coated head on most snare drum, I find it ideal for sound and feel.
Two ply heads tend to feel heavy to the touch when playing whereas single ply really offers this comfortable response when playing loud or quiet.
Another single ply headm the G1 Genera, is designed for snare but has a muffling ring underneath and I find that the G1, not featuring this ring, is easier to play. The possibility of getting all the overtones available is important to me, it's always possible to chuck a tone control afterward if needed.
If you consistently hit as hard as you can, you may find that this drum head doesn't last as long as you'd wish which might be the only drawback for this item.
This is the drum head for me - works perfect with a Ludwig Supraphonic 400 14'' x 5''.

a safe bet

You can't go wrong with evans head, quality is consistent with every of their product , price is ok, there are still no budget brands out there for drum heads at least not in thomann store so really there is no much of a problem regarding choosing the head. Soon I will be replacing all my old tom heads with evans. Great product!

C
The best head for an open sound!
Christian621 10.03.2014
I played several Evans and Remo heads over the last 15 years of drumming. It is very hard to say, which factory got the better head. For me personal, I like the Evans single ply most, if you are looking for an open and fat sound. Maybe two ply heads are more durable, but the often sound almost dead, when you play loose heads. Especially for the snare I like a very open sound with a lot of overtones. With this Evans G1 I got the best sound of most all of my snare. No matter if its a Brady Ply, Pearl Free Floating or Mapex Machete. This head rocks on all of them!

C
good quality tom head

Another great quality tom head form Evans. I use this single ply coated head as a resonant head on a vintage rack tom, but it could also be used with great success on the batter head.

ER
Great heads for dynamic players
Emre R. 15.05.2013
I've recently switched from ambassadors to these G1s and I'm really happy with the extra warmth, durability and equal sensitivity I get from them. I've got these top and bottom on the toms of a Yamaha absolute birch and they've brought a real depth and playability out of these great drums.
