Electro Harmonix has been well known for decades for their innovative and affordable guitar effects. With the Ravish Sitar Effects Pedal you can craft a sitar from your electric guitar. Such attempts have already been made, but on the whole the sound has often been limited to a sort of chirping ... somehow similar but far away from the real thing.

The Ravish comes pretty close to the sitar sound. Lead strings and sympathetic strings can be controlled separately, and two expression pedal inputs allow you to bend the pitch of the lead voice and control the volume of the sympathetic strings simultaneously. It really has to be heard to be believed!

Ich hatte lange darüber nachgedacht, ob ich mir dieses Pedal wirklich zulegen soll.
Nachdem ich einige Youtube- Videos gesehen hatte hab ich es dann bestellt.

Leider musste ich feststellen, das der Sound nicht sehr viel her gibt. Das meine Gitarre nicht spontan genau wie eine Sitar klingen wird war mir natürlich klar, aber leider beraubt das gute Stück meiner Gitarre ihren natürlichen Sound.

Alles klingt viel zu spitz und unnatürlich.

Auch im Bypass wird das Signal (für meinen Geschmack zu stark) beeinflusst.

Nach einigem Rumprobieren mit verschiedenen Effektkombinationen, mit zusätzlichen Reverb- und Delay- Pedalen usw. hab ich mich entschieden das Pedal zurück zu schicken.

Nun werde ich schauen ob ich mit dem EHX Freeze- Pedal ein besseres Ergebnis erziehlen kann.

Schade, ich hatte mir wirklich mehr erhofft...

Kein Plug and Halleluja, aber massenweise spannende Optionen

Habe das Teil erst mal als reinen sympathetic emulator für eine Jerry Jones Master Sitar verwendet, nett soweit :)

EDIT 2012-02-22: ... bisher stört mich eigentlich bei der Arbeit mit diesem Effektmodul lediglich, dass der separate Ausgang für die Dronesaiten sich beim Ausschalten des Effekts nicht auch ausschaltet. Es wird dann an diesen Ausgang das Originalsignal durchgeschleift, was zumindest nach meinen Vorstellungen eher kontraproduktiv ist (ich habe den Ausgang auf einen eigenen Kanal im Mischpult gelegt, der dann extra stumm geschaltet werden muss ... :( )
