Nice small expression pedal.

The good
I bought this as an expression pedal for my boss md-500. Using it as a wah, volume, changing between 2 settings etc. And it is quite comfortable as far as foot size is concerned and sweep length from heel to toe is nice. And I like the aesthetics and everything.

The problem
The quality on mine is horrible. The sweep is physically divided in 2 parts. It is like you start the sweep very easily and in the second half of the sweep you get the tension you have set it up to be with the screw. Therefore it is abit more difficult and more annoying to get the perfect sweep. Also, I haven?t used it too much and it has already developed a squeeky noise when you sweep.

Even though, for some people this may not be a big deal, for the price I believe there are way better quality options out there.

Edit: After some research I found out you have to tighten few screws inside the pedal and the issue with the sweep is gone. You can also fix the squeaking. This was still a bit disappointing, but it works perfectly now.

This Pedal is amazing.

You get used to the size in no time because you actually control any volume/EXP pedals with your heel not your entire foot. And it takes almost the same size as a boss sized pedal so it will give you more space in your pedal board and I had no issues with the operating range or with dead zones.

It?s my fault, not the pedal?s!
Lemmer 07.07.2017
I have had this great little pedal on my board for a while now, and it is great. It is built well, and the sweep is as gradual as I was hoping it would be. The small foot print is awesome, but it is taking me a bit to get used to. It?s not the pedal?s fault though! I?m 6?4? (194 cm) and have quite big feet. Also, I?m not as stable as I used to be! I guess what I?m getting at is that it is taking me a while to get used to the small size. I guess over the years I?ve grown used to being able to balance on my larger pedals, and kinda know my lean, if you know what I mean? I know I?ll get there with this little beauty, but it hasn't?t happened over night.

k
nice and handy small little volume pedal
krisbas 20.11.2021
I have only good and positive things to say about that pedal:

-- it is exactly what i expected
-- it is small and handy - fits to every case
-- for those who are used with the 'regular size' of volume pedal, it might take some time to get used with that, but for me it was no problem
-- i like the appearance and aesthetics of that pedal

Until now nothing bad to comment :)

Squeaky squeaky!
Neil F 03.03.2019
One star for size - great that this volume pedal is small and takes up very little pedalboard real estate, but after couple of days use, the squeak kicks in...!

This is the second Jim Dunlop Volume X Mini I have bought, the first was returned for the same reason - squeak, squeak, but I thought I'd give it a second chance...
Again, after two days use, the same flaw - a loud squeak on the toe down, and a loud squeak on the toe up - I don't know if it's the hinge or the 'Low Friction Band-Drive'(!?), but I've heard enough.
I might not be surprised if this cost 39¤ or so, but not from something that was 150¤.

I really wanted this to work for me, but I guess it's not to be - back to my oversized Lehle volume pedal...oh well...

You can't put velcro tape onto the underside for your pedalboard, because it won't stick to the rubber down there. You'll end up with a weird sticky mess that is hard to clean off.

Who makes a pedal, that can't be attached to pedalboards?

The cry baby feels great to use somehow, it moves smoothly with very low static friction. The volume pedal on the other hand feels pretty bad compared to that, which baffles me since both are from the same brand, and both are supposed to be high quality devices, right?

Pretty disappointing.

Super Mini - Awesome expression & Volume pedal
Ian_N 06.07.2017
At first i worried about the size but the feel is simply divine and finally managed to travel light without sacrificing anything in the process.

I used it as a volume pedal with my Marshall 1987x and full analog pedals as with my Kemper powered rack as an expression pedal on wah and pitch.

You will need a few minutes to feel the pedal and get used to the size but honestly i don't think i ll never go back.

Super quality as always! I definitely recommend it to anyone feeling the need to downsize his rig without loosing anything in the process.

Excellent volume pedal
P. Kupfer 03.10.2021
Small, precise, reliable, solid and very well constructed. If you don't have much real estate available in your pedalboard, this is the perfect volume pedal. Highly recommended.
